Looked up the post you linked to, there are many people who say it's not propaganda, and they are pretty highly voted too. But yeah, you can say some people on hexbear thinks it is propaganda.

Yeah, "middle" can often be a slog in series. You have to keep everything exciting without resolving anything.
I think I should start Mistborn re-read next. Want to re-read before starting Mistbort Era Two (Wax & Wayne novels).

Didn't know about Lehane, just looked him up, he has written some good books. Well, at least the movies based on his books were pretty good ๐ Will check out his work.
BTW this is probably one of the only two (or maybe three) non fantasy/sci-fi book mentioned in this post. It's interesting to see that majority of people here are speculative fiction fan.
Didn't know the anime was based on the book, and that there are sequels to this too. Going to check them out.
