There is a reason I keep refusing to take the "Lead" position. I know what I'm good at.

The Christian god is just a spurned lover who wrote in their diary about how stupid and mean their ex is and they should never have dumped him.

Satan is the dumper and has moved on long ago.

In light of the fact that the US has no national ID, and the Constitutional ban on poll taxes, combined with the requirement individual states run their own elections, registration is the best option there is.

We need a way to ensure people are eligible to vote, and a way to ensure people only vote once. A big list of "people who can vote" is the answer.

That said: getting on the list should be easy. Removing someone from the list should be hard.

Having worked in corporate America for some time now, I would guess it was 95% internal politics. Whoever ran the inbox team didn't play the game right.

I can't say I'm a fan of the current generation of this technology, and I'm not really excited about the idea that we can just use it as an excuse to not change our behaviors.

However: This kind of investment is how we get better versions of the technology, or learn that it truly is a dead-end.

Maybe this won't result in like, amazing faux-trees capturing and sequestering carbon into bricks we turn into buildings or something, but maybe it will result in technology we can miniaturize or repurpose to slap on the ends of tailpipes and the tops of smokestacks. Maybe it'll end up being a stepping stone to something greater.

We're at the point now where we can't afford to let the perfect be the enemy of good. We need to try everything, even if it's not perfect right now.

Not as long as Democrats' voters stay home because "both parties are the same" and Republicans ' voters turn out in droves.

Stop electing Republicans and you'll see a lot of problems solved.

USBC is a hot god damned mess.

The C describes only the shape of the connector.

The numbered specification ("2.0", "3.0") describes the speed.

But USBC can also do non-USB protocols like HDMI and Thunderbolt and DisplayPort.

Technically, the clock doesn't start ticking on the four-day window for reporting until companies have determined a breach is material.

It's not all breaches. In fact, because this is the SEC, it's about financial impact, not privacy or security.

It's a good start, but I worry that a financial impact based approach creates the wrong incentive.
