They aren't a public service, their goal is maximizing profits, the devices they manufacturer and the customer base they farm are just tools to that end.

Fairphone, on the other hand, is a Benefit corp, if I remember correctly.

She may have actually qualified as obese at times, as there's an actual medical classification.

I don't think that's likely to be the case in that second photo you shared, she does have a heavy build in general, but there have been times since being on ST when she likely did qualify.

IIRC, obese is anything over a specific rage of BMI or BFP, whichever you use. So if a healthy BMI for you is 18-25 and you are 30 then you are obese.

I'm not a pro, so I'm not sure about the hard details, but the point I'm making is that obese isn't a personal opinion of looks too fat. A person doesn't necessarily even need to look it, but they could still qualify.

My SO looks fine at 30, but not much above that. I think they're sitting at 28 currently.

Why do they last more than a year?

Why do they exist at all?

I only pee in other people's showers.

'You people' is typically defined by the attached action. 'You people' are the people who actually do that thing, whatever it is.

If you don't do it, 'you people' is not you.

If you do do it, 'you people' is you.

The point is not about 'who', it's an oppositional statement about the 'what', the action, and implies it's bad, or more importantly that the speaker doesn't approve.

Like: 'You people, always with the child raping.'

If you don't rape children, 'you people' isn't you.

But also, the speaker is implying that child raping is bad, or something they don't approve of, and something they don't do.

Seems aight, I'm fine with FF ATM though.

I do keep alternates around for rare issues, so when helium is out of beta if it ever is, I may install it.

I have a Feb 5th update for the s25 that's info suggests it might be making this change too.

Suddenly, I don't really feel like updating.

I was already concerned any future updates would add more AI BS I don't need. So I probably wasn't going to update it anymore anyway.

Didn't know the capital hired lazy and disheveled mall cops for congressional security.

Those guys don't look like they own a suit.

Well, it's technically true. Pedophilia, attraction to children (prepubescent youths), is generally best addressed with acknowledgement, treatment, and management.

Sexual assault, and rape, and predator practices are the crimes identified pedophiles are typically found participating in if their attraction to kids isn't addressed appropriately beforehand.

Ya'll don't really think being attracted to kids is a crime itself do you? Or that there aren't thousands, or tens of thousands, of people out there that are attracted to kids and just don't act on it, or haven't been identified?

Pedophilia, though specific in nature, is a similar subject to mental health in general, in how it's treated by society. As it becomes more acceptable to admit to having mental health conditions, the instances of those conditions leading to dire circumstances dimishes.

Be more proactive, and less reactive.

Note: though it should be clear enough, I do want to specifically state that this message in no way promotes or supports criminal actions taken towards children or knowingly disregarding such actions if the assailants are rich, or any other such nonsense.

Like being tall, or black, or gay, being a pedophile is a state of being, not an action, and people should not be attacked for their state of being, full stop. Crimes they commit are another matter entirely.

To clarify:

This is a federated service that spans across all nations with Internet access, and the forum you posted this to is just Books.

If you want a localized book forum then create a new forum that's labeled as such.

I think that would be a weird choice, but you do you.

And if you just want to talk about books with anyone who has access to this forum, go ahead and post a book and start a conversation.

There will always be disasters, and suffering, and unfortunate events, and there certainly have been throughout Star Trek, but I too would prefer we had more protopian sci-fi.

I think SFA is actually trying to be more light and positive and less serious and dramatic, vs Disco for example. SNW seemed to make that intentional shift as well. And I think that's also why other ST properties like Lower Decks and Prodigy are so highly rated.

SFA started out pretty dark, and I immediately went 'yuck'... But again, I think they are working their way towards something better. Reopening the Academy is kind of a reboot for the Federation, so it'll probably be getting better still.

I wonder what kind of insight Karim has into this, that he can share?

SC plays my favorite SFA character... I played a game with my SO to see if she could spot him on the show. She cheated by accidentally seeing him in the credits after the first few episodes. Was fun while it lasted though.
