What do you mean by "won't get away with it"? Also the article doesn't mention anything about atheism, only 'anti-Muslim', which are obviously two very different things. I'm fairly certain the reason why you see less Bible burnings than Quran burnings in the west is because the west is predominantly Christian, so of course there would be less burning of the Bible, not because of the notion of some atheists of 'getting away with it'.

It's not federated but there is pixelcanvas.io, which is like r/place but infinite and not controlled by Reddit

I just found out about syncthing yesterday and it really is superb, it's so easy to use even crossplatform. unison is another syncing tool that I like, I find it better for bidirectional syncing

Probably by just looking at the IP address, either due to the IP addresses of the VPNs being public or by the fact that many users are accessing the service through a single IP address

I don't think this is really surprising, I'm sure many people went on it just to check it out when they heard it released. What would be interesting is to see how these stats compare to comparable services after their releases

Paint is especially surprising to miss, but yeah. I tried a few different image editing programs on Linux but they were all either too limited in scope or were too complex to quickly learn.
