Who? Who would be capable of gathering the trump support and getting enough votes? Part of the right wing powerful 1 guy thingy is this: 1 guy. Take the guy away, and you have no idea what would happen and if someone else would manage to keep the gathered power going and maybe gather even more. Would be very different if trump were president when it happened, then the power is formalised and the takeover by another supervillain easier, but during campaign that would be quite the feat and I'm really wondering who would have been capable of it.

Culling unhatched eggs seems less cruel to me than culling <1 day hatchlings. Cute-bias, I know.

Seems to scale somewhat in Europe, talking many many millions of eggs per year too.

At least trying is better than nothing.

Not saying it's perfect, but tech is advancing thought it would be interesting to add that to this thread...

The industry is slowly evolving away from it tho. I've seen "no chick killing" or something similar on labels in German shops.

Sure, it's called Boarding School.

What's the advantage? Why would I want to buy double yolk eggs? Never ever seen it in a shop in europe.

How much would we save if we'd somehow be able to debloat and deshittify the Internet and all devices? Climate impact, overconsumption of unnecessary crap, mental health care...

Implementing no fishing zones have shown that at least in seas and oceans, fish stocks and diversity can replenish incredibly fast because they become nurseries. Salmon might be more difficult tho.

there's still a decent chance it's only industrially biodegradable: at higher temperatures and pressures than a good ol' home compost pile normally ever gets near. It could still be a bit infuriating.

It's a big fat fucking truck or luxury suv with a battery. A normal sized electric car is a thing too, you know. Electrics will always need to be heavier than ice of same size and model, but that doesn't mean it needs to weigh 3000kg. Car are growing heavier and bigger not just because of electrification, but because of growing fragile egos and growing fears in a vehicle arms race.

[-] freebee@sh.itjust.works 20 points 6 months ago

That it's a arms race doesn't make it better for society as a whole. It sucks.

There's a different kind of judge now than the technologically illiterate?

[-] freebee@sh.itjust.works 20 points 6 months ago

The technology path is fine, the adoption isn't.

Path: plastics are miracle materials. Lots of great uses for it.

Adoption: mass producing single use throwaway shit everything.
