the translation step from binary (program) -> text (SQL) -> binary (server)

Your concern about this is misguided. Inter-process communication always has to cross a barrier, by definition.

I take it http also feels wrong to you?

Binary protocols do exist, e.g. gRPC, but they incur costs of their own.

His password was "daddy"

Now it's "daddy2"

Great boast for privacy. Removes a lot of attack surface that law could exploit. And potentially reduces running costs, too.

Glad to hear you're building the kernel too.

You want to have a superficial little rant about how much you hate microsoft. It's uninformed and boring, and you're not going to learn anything in that mindset.

C# is an excellent language for many circumstances. If you knock off the attitude, I'd be willing to explain to you why it's so widely used.

It's not a right, it's a privilege that is granted to the competent and is taxed.

On your toddler.

Because, say, you knew the other parent was about to get full custody.

Or just because you're really into Louis Vuitton.

Peasant. I use slackware.

Or will, when I figure out this compiler error.

I do believe it is you, hiya! I'm being perverse as a matter of policy.

I try not to get too invested in identities anyway. I look at the user if I need the context to evaluate their frame - but usually, you know when you're reading insightful commentary.

Be aware that this may not be the same person as /u/poppinKREAM. That's the beauty of the fediverse™

I work for an event on a 60-hectare site with a few hired vehicles (trucks, forklifts etc). The site is a couple of miles/kilometres across.

The problem is locating vehicle keys. Dipshits take the forklift and wander off with the only key. We need to be able to locate the keys.

Range is far too long for Bluetooth.

Money is tight, lol. Subscription services are probably not viable, we prefer an upfront cost. That rules out GPS trackers that update their location via mobile cell services.

Is there any beacon on the market that can be picked up at a couple of kilometres and costs a few hundred euros for a set of, say, six beacons?

Poof! That's the sound of 20 million fundamentalists vanishing because you pointed out the existence of Brazzers

Do you think that's relevant? I don't see anything about either reddit or lemmy that makes it harder for right-wingers to join. I can tell you that America does not have a monopoly on the alt-right (AfD, Brexit, etc)

I'm keen to learn more if you've seen evidence in this topic. I wouldn't know how to investigate, tbh.
