This isnt unique to the first world. In fact, I'd argue it's even more prevalent in many developing countries where government incompetence and corruption is more appearant.^1^ In places where things like war and famine are in living memory, a shit government can seem like an acceptable tradeoff.

  1. A relative rule of course, the current US executive branch would give any tinpot dictator a run for their money.

A carrot perhaps... Or a very big stick.

Maybe I'm alone in saying this but I really don't care if they make more Trek.

I've watched TNG, DS9 <3, and VOY. I've watched most of ENT, and TOS.

While I liked what I've seen of SNW and LD (I've only just realised that Lower Decks doesn't fit neatly into the 3 letter acronym format), I could live without them.

If I want more trek, I'll watch Babylon 5.

I really don't need more new shows. I think we have enough shows. In fact, I think that if no one ever made any show ever again we'd be completely fine (from a having stuff to watch perseptive; from a creative perspective, it would be kinda sad).

What does a lockable bootloader mean? Is it just encrypted so the kernel never gets loaded without the user?
