I'm in enjoying it a lot! I think the author has found a good balance of keeping it interesting while still informative. I'd recommend it to anybody interested in encyclopedias.
In the Oregon Trail episode of Tasting History with Max Miller (YouTube), he mentioned a root plant kind of like an onion that natives showed to some trail followers. It was a major staple of their diet, and I can't even remember it's name.

Exactly! They think they know German because of a few phrases. Meanwhile, I think my German is bad because I watched the TV show "Real Humans" (Echte Menschen) in German with German subtitles and got lost anytime they were talking about legal matters in the lawyer's office!

I grew up in a rural area, hence the no gas. I now live in a metro area and maybe it's just my friends, but I've really never seen one. They always sounded dangerous to me.
But why the nose? Who crawls around on the floor all the time?
