Edit: I really like the reddit app example because it's simple: no regulation or anti-capitalist force made them to that, it was literally just a capitalist decision.

But regulatory capture is an important part of capitalism, and no matter how many ancap bullshit artists say otherwise, government is absolutely part of the capitalist plan. Giving the workers a "say" (or the illusion of one) keeps them a bit quieter, but more importantly, having a government outsources a lot of crap they would otherwise have to pay for, like infrastructure, which would be a huge strain on profits.

In fact, the ancap bullshit idea that unregulated markets would improve things is an artificial limitation on capitalist power. Total lack of regulation is a restriction on capitalism.

When I was like 30, I was out hiking and I saw some guy with three little kids, the kids were hopping from rock to rock, and the littlest one ran up past the siblings to hold the dad's hand. It was super cute. My parents were kinda uninterested and afk, so I haven't seen a lot of examples of dads just having fun with their kids.

That little family was inspiring, in the sense that it opened my mind to a new way of thinking, but also in the sense of taking in breath, it felt like I had been holding my breath and finally stopped. I realized I didn't necessarily have to be like them, I could use their bad/mediocre parenting as a "what not to do" list, and still do some of the things that they did that were good. I could go hiking with my kids, I could teach them how to build a campsite out of nothing, or how to build a server, or how to put your thumb on the end of a house so it sprays really far.

Sure it's more responsibility but it's also really fun.

And, tbh, all the nice things in life are even nicer if you can share it with people. That goes double for kids, because they don't know how shitty the world is. You just gotta make sure they understand and appreciate the fun stuff and don't get spoiled.

First, any tax that's a fixed percentage will be a higher percentage of a person's income even that income is lower.

Secondly, there's a point in "wealth generation" where you don't spend everything you make. Money that you save isn't taxed by a sales tax -- so, again, the less money you make, the more it impacts you.

Regarding "earmarks" it really depends on what it's for. As a blanket statement, "Earmarks Are Bad" is just a small government taking point -- which itself can be understood as an anti-poor dog whistle, since conservatives call support for society's most vulnerable "wasteful spending" -- but you can often hear "earmarks" in reference to defense spending, which is typically a Democrat talking point.

I think that "earmarks" is actually a really interesting word, since, in a practical sense, it never means anything -- or, more accurately, it always means nothing specific but I'm a vaguely specific way. The word doesn't refer to a specific spend, but it refers to a specific kind of spend -- so it sounds much more specific than it actually is.

If a politician refers to a specific earmark, they run the risk of alienating whoever benefits from it; by being exceptionally vague, they can associate their brand with fiscal responsibility without actually doing anything fiscally responsible.

If I can interject - I don't think the OP is showing an unpopular opinion. The people they're talking to aren't mad. It looks to me like an opinion whose wisdom isn't generally accepted - and there's a difference.

Unpopular opinion: pedophilia is a mental disorder; child rape (including "statutory" rape) is an act of violence, cruelty, and power - or, in arguably the worst case, crimes of opportunity. Not all child rapists are pedophiles and not all pedophiles are child rapists. Pedophiles should be treated; child rapists should be imprisoned forever. (Those that are in the overlap can be treated in prison.)

Unaccepted opinion: well, there are a lot of them here, but this one - about teachers - could be tweaked into one: the only way we are going to see changes that would actually benefit our society and country, the things the news and politicians say are "luxury expenses" - aka health care, teachers' salaries, rent and real estate regulation, etc - is with a general strike. The propaganda and gaslighting and victim blaming are so deeply entrenched that they have become the most profitable sectors of our economy.

This opinion is - again, in my opinion - probably true, and there are a lot of people who agree - but not enough. If the crowd in that picture represents a country of 350 million, then that one person represents maybe 0.5-1 million people? Which is way more than the supporters of a general strike.
