I used it for the mac. It was cheaper then buying each new version as a standalone of several software items i used. I can see it work for the iphone as well. You may not need that many apps, but if there are 3 or 4 apps someone uses regulary that are expensive to buy, it can be easier (and like i said, in some cases cheaper) to buy a subscription.
Worry not, im not into conspiracy theories, and i couldnt care less about informing others, mis or not mis.
Look at Kodi or Jellyfin. For kodi there's also libreelec (or openelec, not completely sure) so you dont have to tinker with the underlying OS much.
Well, i didn't say it was perfect.. ;-)
Well, without caffeine i would turn into an ax wielding murderous psychopath. Humanity would seize to exist, nature would heal and the world would rebuild itself. Lizards would become the dominant species and tadaaaa!
You dont. You install it on a Rasberry Pi for example, which you then connect to a tv screen :)
I use a GUI, selfhosted and web based instance of The Lounge. Ive been using it for a few years now and its wonderfull. I can be connected at all times without leaving my laptop on. Before that i used Hexchat, dIRC (was a wonderful client for windows, so mist have been around 2000) and mIRC, which i think is still one of the biggest clients.
Have you tried it? If so, what is your opinion?
America is going back to the dark ages.
For me the benefit is uniformity (not sure if thats a word) i can have a matrix account, a mastodon account, a lemmy account, all sorts of fediverse accounts all under my own domain.
This comes next to the already mentioned benefits ofcourse :)
