A CD-Rom with Windows ME. only took me 2 hours after buying to break it in pieces. It hung in the computer store for years as a trofee 😂

Thats because a lot of users dont really want to use Windows, or the computer in general. They use it, because they have to.

For the same reason, i would never know what to do when my car breaks down. Sure i can look under the hood and do this and that. But its not my area of expertise, and its not something im interested in.

I'm a sysadmin, i know almost everything about powershell and then some. That doesnt mean my users do though. For them, a computer is a magical black box thats supposed to "just work" by clicking here and there. Just like a car is to me :)

I think Edge isnt all that bad. But for most its just this whole idea of beeing forced to use it, i think :)

Have you donated money so they can?

Another server (and i assume you mean one with better specs) means more money. Its not just challenging, its also costly.

Alternative you could setup your own lemmy instance, you can still join the community’s on lemmy.world or lemmy.ml or whereever :) and its fun to do.

This is one of the reasons why i moved away from Samba to a full AD :)

Look at Ubiquiti’s unifi lineup. We implement them on several locations, and im very happy with it.if you use the UDM router you have a local controller which can be cloud managed.
