Laptop - it does everything a computer needs to do in one compact, easy to handle package. Even the cheapest of laptops is faster and more powerful than what the vast majority of people need these days, and since virtually everything is web based, I don't even own a computer. I use my phone/tablet for everything. Work supplies the laptop.

It depends on what I'm wearing, whether it has front or back pockets, which hand was holding it last, what I am doing at the time, and whether or not I want to put it in my purse instead.

I am trying to figure out how this will do anything but make a "threads" and a "rest of the fediverse" setup, just like we have now. Nothing will change, and this will be for the best. Meta will make a shitty version of fediverse to rival their own shitty facebook, and the rest of us will be happier for it.

Why should we care one way or the other?

Yes. I recommend both. The 2 entities, while linked, behave differently. Think of lemmy/kbin like reddit and mastodon like Twitter.

no use whatsoever. this is an artifact from the days when the arrows, etc. did not exist as separate keys.

Actually, you can't "see fine" with the red lights. Sure, once your eyes adjust to the darker light, you can see at some level. But the red light doesn't allow you to see anywhere near near as well as you can in a white light. also, if you have poor night vision, red light isn't very good at all. And, the biggest reason why you can't use red headlights is color blindness. There are people who would be completely in the dark with those headlights.
