Correct me if I'm wrong: if you're a linux gamer then GOG doesn't support your platform, no?

Are you an Iraqi in Iraq? I am an ex-iraqi but have lived in the Nordics majority of my life. People here don't talk much about the country, but the few tourists that go there go to Erbil and only have good things to say about it.

Would love to hear your own experience too.

What made you choose revolt chat over matrix? Just curious.

I was a pocketcast user for years, switched to antennapod a few months ago. Here's what's bothering me:

• Antennapod has a weird separation between new episodes (inbox) and what you're listening to now (queue). PC has that abstracted away where you only have to check one place for your podcasts.
• There is no simple service to sync your subscriptions and listen progress. Gpoddersync is basically abandoned and the protocol lacks features. Hopefully this will change with openpodcastAPI, but they haven't managed to secure funding yet.
• I've been spoilt by having a server doing the heavy lifting of refreshing my podcasts. It's a minor annoyance that I need to wait approx. 1.5 second per feed to refresh. It's just the way it is.

There are also things that antennapod does better:

• chapters actually works in AP.
• episode pictures also works in AP, PC only showed the static image of the feed.
• search is just as good as PC.
• its FOSS and hopefully resistant to enshittification (unless all producers go into a closed ecosystem like Spotify tried with their recent purchases of pod-studios).

This article is two years old, and perhaps discord have improved their accessibility, since this user find it more accessible then matrix. Yes, it's a single usercase, but worth mentioning nonetheless.

I think there are other arguments against Discord that haven't been mentioned: data privacy. I know there was an instance where Discord collected user without their consent, and that is enough for me to avoid the platform.

I much rather use matrix or the horridly old IRC protocol than Discord. Or forums. Or just plain old issues!

I like 3-2-1-1-0 better. Like yours, but:

• the additional 1 is for "offline" (so you have one offsite and offline backup copy).
• 0 for zero errors. Backups must be tested and verified.

Certain surface models run linux fine, but I wouldn't recommended it as a linux laptop as it requires solving several issues before you get a working computer.

Just make sure about what you're getting yourself into: features such as IR facial detection and stylus input isn't supported on all models OOTB by the surface kernel. Also, it is a bit messy with how surface handles booting.

Linux on surface works (I got Ubuntu on both my Go gen 1 and pro 7) but expect to put in time to tinker and manage unexpected issues.

A lot of people have already made good comments / replies on this post, but let me argue against the third point ("MS discouragestrying out something new"). This must have been made by someone not even working in a MS ecosystem, because there's a shitton of doing the same thing with a lot of different tools. Or GUIs.

Want to take notes in MS365 echosystem? You have word, Onenote, MS-Teams wiki (that is being deprecated, thank god), Loop components.

Want to save/share a file? You got Onedrive, SharePoint document libraries or MS-Teams (fun fact: they're all using SharePoint as the underlying technology, but depending on the GUI you choose, you get diffrent representation of the underlying files).

Want to manage your tasks? You got To-do, Planner, Flags in Outlook, Tasks in Teams and, drum-roll, MS loop (again!). Thankfully, they all "talk" to eachother so you can at least see all tasks assigned to you when you open your To-do app.

So no, MS does present a lot of different ways to accomplish someting (almost too many...). Whether that is good or bad, I leave it up to the reader, but the new Microsoft certainly is more daring in trying out new things.

More Finns should be using Linux, specially considering its Finnish origins.
