Irony can be pretty ironic sometimes.

It is, and it's hilarious. I had to explain to my wife why I was laughing so hard through that scene.

"If you want to know how Linux works, ask a Slackware user."

I've mentioned this a lot lately, but I used Slackware from the late 90s (3.x days) until about 2009 on my desktop and laptop, and about 2017 on my server. I just got tired of dealing with dependencies and switched to Debian (all three run Debian now). I had the CD subscription and would automatically receive the latest version about twice a year.

Patrick Volkerding (if my memory is accurate) has my utmost respect, and I do feel a little bad about abandoning it, but I just didn't have the time to deal with it any more.

I'd add that if one of the basic libraries is compromised, you can't trust the anti-virus or really any other program on that system.

Right? It's not, say, cheating on his pregnant wife with a prostitute? I would have thought THAT would be the thing that destroys his support among Christians, but nah, they don't care.

But selling overpriced Bibles does upset them? Why? It's probably the least insane thing he has done yet.

Personally I'm tired of having to bite my tongue in the name of peace and harmony while the right wing can say whatever the hell they want.

Multiple, actually. No one can keep up with him for long, so they swap out. Each concierge (usually called "Domestiques") sweeps the path clean of all gravel, dirt, and random people with strollers for the rider.

(I just realized how much I miss /r/bicyclingcirclejerk.)

Two people down voted this. I assume they are unaware of the history of that domain.

Hint - you did NOT want to use the wrong TLD at work or school.

Ehhh if you have a serious question or a problem about some niche thing, and no one here can answer it, you're just wasting your time. I had an issue with a tool I have, but I couldn't find a community that it made sense to ask about it in. I'm not going to start a community for every sub I had subbed on reddit.

My car is a stick shift. I love it.

But our pickup and my wife's car are both automatic. Those are fine, too. Stop and go traffic - I'm gonna want an automatic. The pickup is for towing our trailer, and while I understand theoretically a stick would be better for that purpose, I'm glad to have the automatic and not have to worry about it. Plus then my wife can occasionally drive it as well.

I've driven fast automatics, and I've driven slow stick shifts. It's never just ONE thing about a car.

You're browsing /r/stopgambling? Here are some gambling ads for you!

This sort of thing happened several times over there. I'm making up this example (I think), but there were a few posts on the mod subs begging reddit not to do things like that.
