Ah, now that's a scare! Glad you mostly managed to recover at any rate.

As for the fs to use, exfat is probably a safer bet but btrfs is also an option. I've used winbtrfs in the past and it works surprisingly well.

I respect your reaction a lot. The world would be a much more pleasant place if more people were willing to look past their comfort zone and see institutionalized hate for what it is.

I use Proxmox, running a mix of regular and NixOS based LXCs. One of those also runs Docker for simpler services.

I overshare my Nix setup at the slightest hint it could be relevant and I also feel like I've shilled Bazzite at least once basically every week or so ever since I created this account, but I guess I'll settle for second place 😛

Joking aside, thanks for sharing, that was a great read. Good for newcomers and skepticals alike IMO, I'll keep it handy!

Now that's some hardcore minimalism I can get behind!

I've always struggled with actually retaining knowledge on how to use the myriad tools you'd usually need to extract/parse data (awk, sed and friends) and this was a game changer. I don't quite daily drive it just yet but when I do need it, it's vastly more ergonomic.

Closest I can think of is Warp, although right now it's still closed source and Mac only. If there are others I've missed I'd love to learn more!

To add to this, another viable path is using Nix, the package manager, on its own. That way you can get Home Manager to manage your applications and dotfiles independently of your base system, as long as you are able to install Nix.

It's my general workflow, run Determinate Nix Installer, install Home Manager, clone my config and I'm off to the races. Been sharing that config between Debian, Ubuntu on WSL and Bazzite for a while and it's served me well so far.

Fascinating idea, that was an interesting read! Don't think I'd ever seen something like that done before.

I've just set up Actual Budget and that's pretty much exactly how it works, you'd have to self host it though. It gives you access to a web interface you can access from any device, it's a bit limited on mobile but does work for adding transactions and whatnot.
Failing that, I'm not familiar with one with a good mobile app, although I'm sure there are a few out there.

Yup, I work as a typescript + PHP developer right now for reasons beyond my control so I'm painfully familiar with that kind of error 😅

That feels like the physical version of how most publishers treat Steam regional pricing suggestions here, and I imagine in a lot of other developing countries.
For reference, the suggested equivalent of 60 USD was something close to 180 BRL last I checked but you'd be hard pressed to find an actual AAA game for less than 250~300 BRL. Not coincidentally, that's also in the neighborhood of a straight USD to BRL conversion at the usual rates.
