I have been looking for instances of peertube, but some of them do not have registration enabled or only support a specific type of videos (For example, technology), I want an instance where you can register and that is not limited by a specific theme for the videos.

There is the diceware method to make passwords random and strong to crack. But is it advisable to use this method to make random names for email addresses? That is the concern I have, when a person makes a random email address, they inevitably introduce things with which they can be identified, breaking the previously stated randomness, what ways are there to avoid this?

There are places like internet archive that preserve things like videos, images, audios, books and programs, but I have not seen any website that preserves only cooking recipes, do you know of any?

I had mentioned 12 monkeys and primer because it has a similar style to memento despite having different environment, one that I forgot to mention was donnie darko, these movies have an unconventional narrative and endings, these characters are in a much bigger situation than they can measure, but for those who were not involved that never happened, since they never saw what happened from start to finish, when one of these movies ends, you know that it was not a happy, sad or neutral ending, which what happened there was something else

Most of these movies are called psychological movies, but searching under this category I have not found anything that comes close to what I am looking for, movies like memento, 12 monkeys and primer are characterized by something, a person who knows information (Be good or bad), and is in a situation isolated from the rest of the population, no one other than the protagonist or a very small group of people knows what is happening and what it implies, that is the type of movies I am looking for, movies with isolated stories, if you know of any movie that makes you feel that I don't know what it is with the 3 movies I mentioned, please leave me the name and synopsis. (I had forgotten to mention donnie darko)

I'm looking for alternatives to wii backup manager, what do you recommend?

[-] manito_manopla@lemmy.ml 3 points 5 months ago

It looks pretty good. I remember another distribution called kaspersky rescue disk, but it was mostly focused on malware analysis and removal, but it seems that it was discontinued

Within the GNU/Linux ecosystem there are all kinds of tools to diagnose the system, or rather, to check the state of the hardware, but there are few distributions specifically designed to perform this task, or at least that I know of, because the only distribution I know that is intended to diagnose the computer, (Or at least one of the components), is memtest86+, so I would like to know what other distributions exist in addition to the one mentioned above

What are the differences between tlp and acpitool?

[-] manito_manopla@lemmy.ml 4 points 5 months ago

Sometimes I forget to connect the charger to the laptop, and it discharges without realizing it. When I used xfce power manager, it warned me when the charger was disconnected, can tlp or acpitool send those types of notifications?

I've been using i3 for a while now, but the xfce power manager doesn't work outside the desktop environment, is there any alternative you can recommend? It doesn't matter if it is a terminal based or graphical interface program, I just need something that can suspend the computer after a certain time or lock it when the laptop is closed

[-] manito_manopla@lemmy.ml 3 points 5 months ago

I recommend using qt for the interface, for audio use jack, it is better for music production, if you want to load vst plugins into the program, you can use yabridge

Window size (lemmy.ml)
submitted 5 months ago by manito_manopla@lemmy.ml to c/firefox@lemmy.ml

When firefox is not in a maximized window, the resolution of the window is very small, and changing the resolution by hand all the time is annoying, so I want to give it a fixed size. How can I do this?

It's night, and you've just peed in the toilet, but there's a problem, the toilet cistern is not full, and it's too late to wait, what are you going to do and for what reasons?

  • Wait until tomorrow for the cistern to fill so you can get rid of the urine.

  • Pour water from the cistern, even knowing that it is not enough to get rid of urine.

Ok, thanks for the clarification, I needed it, now with everything clarified, I can make a description of the directory. There are 3 types of folders, images to show the fonts in images, fonts for the ttf and otf binaries and finally sources for the sfd files, which would be the source code of the fonts, outside those 3 folders, there would be Makefile, README and the license. Thanks for the help, now you can make the directory in an organized way

[-] manito_manopla@lemmy.ml 2 points 8 months ago

This font was made with glyphr. In a conventional program (Let's say that this program is made in C), for it to be considered open source, the c file that contains the code has to be distributed, outside of that, there is the compilation file and additionally a README, in fonts it is different, the majority use a different programming language from one to the other to create the typography, and the only way I see that a font made in fontforge can be considered open source is for it to be shared the sfd file that fontforge generates when saving the font, this file is editable in a code editor, not like other files such as otf or ttf, which are directly binary

[-] manito_manopla@lemmy.ml 2 points 8 months ago

The thing is, could an otf or ttf file be considered a file suitable for the free modification and redistribution of a font? That's the question I have, because for me, sharing any of those file formats is not enough for a font to be considered open source, especially since those two files are binary. Would I have to share the sfd file that fontforge generates so that the font can be open source? Because that file is editable through a code editor

Hello, for a few days I have been looking at how to make a git repository to store a free font so that everyone can use it, modify it and redistribute it, the thing is that many have different ways of distributing the source code, and it is not very clear how. Do it in a way that is similar to an open source program. The typography is being made with fontforge, what would be the most optimal way to distribute this font to make it open source?

I took several photos of a drawing that a friend had made, but the quality of the photos is not very good, so I need software that can produce enhanced images by combining a stack of images of the same scene that were taken during a short period of time.

[-] manito_manopla@lemmy.ml 2 points 10 months ago

Apparently it can be done with mplayer, I haven't tried it yet, but later I'll see if it works, and if so, I'll stick with that option

[-] manito_manopla@lemmy.ml 4 points 10 months ago

Because it's fun

[-] manito_manopla@lemmy.ml 5 points 10 months ago

I'm looking for something more universal, that works in any DE or WM and that doesn't necessarily have to depend on kde plasma

How is this different from DXVK?
