To be fair, a decent amount of presidents probably should have been indicted. Trump does take the cake on how directly connected he is to obvious crimes. He's definitely the dumbest in that regard.
I have no idea of the realities of the trucking world, but from outside looking in, it seems like a deceitful industry that promises high pay for few credentials, but in order to actually come out ahead you have to push the limits of safety and health.
Maybe the companies need to pay the drivers salaries and benefits, and don't tie their pay directly to miles or hours.
The idea that it "should work" is both controversial, and doesn't help. As wealth accumulates at the top, they have less reason to give to anyone else. Human greed is encouraged by capitalism, and you end up with massive inequality when it's left unfettered. We're moving towards having robber barons again (or already do, depending on your viewpoint).
Not to mention, capitalism depends on consumption, of everything, and we are actively consuming the things we need in order for us to continue living on the planet. Capitalism doesn't care because it's all about profit, specifically in the short term because humans have short life spans and shorter memory and foresight.
The front shot & green screen baffles me. They did that in the first season of True Detective a few times with Matthew McConaughey's character. He's moving the wheel left and right and it's a fucking straight road in the background. One of the greatest seasons of TV, but those shots always take me out of it and make me laugh. Why did they think it looked good??
I'm a man who had to do this. My partner was going through some pretty rough times in grad school, then left school, and had a lot of mental health work to go through. I was trying to be supportive, but we had to have a few conversations where I said that I didn't find her exactly attractive in the moment because it felt like I was more of a guardian than a partner. It's gotten a lot better since then, but it can be hard when your partner is going through hard times (or is just lazy, in some cases) and doesn't see things as you do.
Everyone needs to put in effort. It doesn't need to be symmetrical (meaning you don't have to do all the same things), but it should be approximately equal in terms of effort in both the relationship and your living situation
Doesn't change the fact that if you agree to pay someone for their service, you must pay someone for their service. I guess being a deadbeat is different when you're purportedly worth billions of dollars.
Star Whores is a masterpiece, don't disparage it
