Isn’t this kind of the situation in America already? With people fearing bankruptcy from ambulance rides and all. Oh, and tipping for restaurants/delivery services like uber eats and instacart. While it’s going to the worker instead of the corporation (hopefully), I’ve read enough stories about food being held hostage unless a tip is given.
Fuckin’ yikes
Yeah, over there you had some terminally online folks calling themselves the “emoji police” who would berate you in the comments if you used an emoji. They even had a role-play subreddit where they would get reports and collaborate.
The best time was perhaps 30 years ago. The second best time is now.
Exactly. Around the world, western countries seem to be enshittifying. The only difference is that the US has widespread access to guns which seems to lead to lots of shootings of all flavours. We don’t have that shit here.
Have they fixed their update policy at long last? Back when I had an X Style it took literally over a year to get the newest version of their nearly stock skin of Android.
Bonus tip: get as many as you need, and then a couple more. Sounds like I’m some kind of salesman, but trust me. I bought some to create a simple charging station for my vr controllers. Works great. Now I want some more to charge other things with the cables I already have laying around (I had some more). Didn’t have the right adapter pieced for in my devices. (Needed usb c, only had micro b and lightning). Now, a few years after I bought them to make that charging stand thingy, they don’t sell this exact one anymore. Bummer.
I’ve seen it plenty of times that they use chrome AND edge. Simply because some things open in edge by default and they don’t know how to, or aren’t bothered to switch it.
I’ll be the crazy person. Where does meat come from, it not from murder?
Sweet. The foundation is there. I hope they’ll soon add it for other languages as well. Being a native Dutch speaker, I hate using electronics in Dutch. Everything sounds so silly. So naturally, my phone is set to English (traditional). But now I can’t tell my phone to navigate me to a street with a Dutch street name without it having a stroke.
I’m all for more content on lemmy, but this is just the same stuff as on Reddit. Questions to which any sane person will have the same reaction. Sorry.
Here in NL they have a decent system if you ask me. Infrastructure for power is owned by TenneT, a semi-government organisation. Then power is supplied by private companies, from whom you can choose any one you want (aka the cheapest/greenest one, depending on your wishes). They then supply power to the national grid, so you’re technically using power from all companies, but paying your share to the one you have a contract with.
