Mixed feelings on this. Cool tool, great idea. On the other hand, it’s also an effective tracker. Not privacy friendly.

Liberal, in US English, is almost solely used to describe left of center politics. For the definition of liberal that you’re referring to the common term is Libertarian.

This is an inaccurate statement. Looking just at US law (there's plenty of others), CDN's that reside or operate within the US are required to comply with DMCA takedowns and any other legal requests made of them. Failure to do so jeopardizes their protection under Section 230 of the DCMA. They 100% can be held civilly and criminally liable for what's in their cache. The US provides a pass, by law, as long as they maintain due diligence.

That's actually very similar to what this story about Reddit was all about. The film studios were trying to build a case to have RCN stripped of their S230 protections.

There’s not even a way to count words at this juncture never mind anything resembling a rules engine.

Message activity contains a UUID but the activity table is considered disposable and is purged regularly. Once the message is broken down into its parts and stored the universal identifier is lost. All correlation is local.

I’m presuming that that in-stock items will be couriered the same as online orders. My Apple delivery guy is also my Doordash guy.

How many of your subscribed communities lie outside of lemmy.world? Very possible you've pigeonholed yourself. World almost certainly has a heavy US bias as it was the largest instance with open registration during the exodus.

Lemmy is made up of a ton of instances, many of which have quite limited US-related content. Posts from smaller instances may not rise to the top of World but they do elsewhere. Whereas World posts are going to rise across most instances, due to sheer volume. Where the posts come from is not as indicative of diversity as where the comments and votes come from.

Getting your own domain doesn’t require you to host your own email. You can simply use forwarding to route your email to Gmail, Hotmail, iCloud or any other mail service that has reasonable spam filtering.

By default every instance federates with every other instance. You have to take explicit actions to prevent that.
