iPhone SE doesn't come out every year, and Apple doesn't have a foldable.

The article doesn't say anything about pensions. Are you confusing UPS with USPS?

In addition to what @Openopenopenopen@lemmy.world said, if you look at the fleurs-de-lis wikipedia article, there's a whole section titled "Religion and art".

There is an argument that, "The Fleurdelisé is more cultural than religious," but separating those two is extremely difficult. IMHO, it's pretty ethnocentric to think symbols like that have become so ingrained in our culture that they are no longer religious, while assuming symbols like hijab are purely religious.

Most banks default to 10% tax deducted at source. Clients can tell the bank to take more or less, but you're right, she should be getting back almost of it (if not all of it) when she files.

OAS recovery doesn't start until $90,997 of annual income in 2024, so that's not a factor.

EDIT: It could reduce her GIS. The threshold for GIS recovery is $21,624, but from what she said, she also shouldn't have that much income, even with the RRSPs.

The article states she rents:

At $1,200 a month, her pension doesn’t even cover her housing needs.

“I’m short like $500 just for the rent,”

... but if you take inflation into account if the price is stable then goods are getting relatively ~~more expensive~~ cheaper.

I keep buying used ones. The problem is they're starting to get harder to find and the price it's going up.

You could argue they're monopolies given there's only one cable provider and one phone provider to an area. Maybe you could argue that's a duopoly as both provide comparable services overall.

However, for many Canadian's it's actually a monopoly. Many areas do not have cable services at all. In a lot of areas, the companies have chosen not to compete so effectively residents only have one choice for high speed internet. Even in highly built up areas, like Toronto, many new high-rises are being built with only one connection, so again, residents don't have a choice.

Make it medium or high-density. We need a much lower percentage of single family homes than we currently have

Refers to the Capital Beltway, so greater Washington, DC, including some of Virginia and Maryland.
