It is ironic that Chinese-made opioids are a problem in other countries. China tried to ban opium multiple times, but Britain fought multiple wars with them over their right to sell Opium in China, which was Britain's single most profitable trade at the time.

The British killed civilians and took over Hong Kong so they could control the most important harbor and increase opium imports. This created massive drug trade and eventually domestic opium production.

I think 'mid' means middle or mid-grade weed, which means a similar thing as 'mediocre' like the chart says.

Yeah, the last time I went to a chiropractor for back pain, they also "corrected" my neck which in the past felt good but this time it just immediately pulled a muscle in my neck and left me in pain and barely able to turn my head for weeks.

It's better now, but I'll never go back to a chiropractor again because of the risk of making things worse for essentially no benefit.

I think that is more like an advanced auto pilot which can also steer missiles to their target but only if fired by the human. The OP article says they're banning AI from making the decision to fire the weapon.

It is estimated that 30-40% of damage to deep sea internet cables is done by ship anchors being dropped on or dragged across cables. This has resulted in new recommendations for the burial depth of such cables. There are many recorded examples of this happening by accident.

One time I mentioned to my boss how I think humanity is doomed to destroy life on Earth because we never learn from our mistakes until it's too late.

My boss said that she is optimistic that we'll get climate change under control because of her young daughter's generation. I immediately backpedaled and agreed that we'll probably figure it out and technology will save us, but I was just lying to both of us feel better.

Of course we need to keep trying to solve these climate issues, but a lot of people are in denial about how bad things already are and underestimate the kind of societal shifts that need to happen right now because of the cognitive dissidence many of us hold, even scientists.

Just to clarify, this is the last annular solar eclipse until 2039 but there will be a total solar eclipse April 8, 2024 which I won't want to miss.

This is good advice! I listened to his podcast for a little while because I was interested in a particular guest and I wanted to hear what the guest had to say, not what Rogan thought. I found a few other guests I liked but I quickly stopped listening because Rogan always makes interviews about his interests and it grew old.

If every neighbor donated 1.75 string cheese, this fundraising campaign would be over in a day.

I have the update and it makes sense to me. I don't want to accidentally click install while scrolling through search results. The arrow functions as a drop down preview of the app for easy comparison. The install button is still there on the main app screen.
