worth clarifying though afaik brave has said they won’t remove v2; not that they will continue to support it… ie if there’s a breaking change in upstream chromium, i’m not sure i have confidence that they’ll spend a bunch of time working around it

you’re absolutely correct… we’ve had this in australia for years and it changes the game tbh

it was added with a system that integrates account details with phone numbers, email addresses, abns (australian business number), so you can pay to all these identifiers without bank details from any bank to any bank, and it’s instant

the massive benefit of it being bank to bank rather than some shit 3rd party app is you’re much more protected against fraud, and there’s lots of insurance going on that you’re not aware of until something goes wrong

this is why for truly important consent it’s useful to say “enthusiastic consent” - it’s not just “yes (perhaps because i feel pressure or obligation)”, it’s “yes i’d love to!”

you work with what you’ve got until you have something better… right now, you have a vote between 2 teams… get the fuck over it and vote, and in between work for something better

but right now, in this moment, in november

YOU FUCKING VOTE AGAINST THE MOST FASCIST

i’m am not an american

i live across the other side of the world

we have to live with the consequences of your decisions

we don’t get a choice in the matter

b2b and audited security standards are a whole different thing - you deal with finance and health you’ve gotta prove to a 3rd party over and over that you have controls and technology in place to make sure you aren’t lying

this isn’t consumer BS

the most amazing thing about this is the fraud case proved that his assets aren’t worth what he says so getting a loan against them is going to be damn near impossible! 🥹

apps, and the instability of kbin.social a few months ago made me switch

honestly kbin is a LOT better at a lot of things: most of the things people complain about on lemmy just weren’t a thing on kbin… i used to look at them and think “wellll just use kbin y’all”

or, continue making coffee while asking it to remind you to buy milk instead of either stopping to tap or completely forgetting which are the only possible outcomes

it would potentially be associated with a law that states that you must not misrepresent a “verified” UI element like a check mark etc, and whilst they could technically add a verified mark wherever they like, the law would prevent that - at least for US companies

it may work in the same way as hardware certifications - i believe that HDMI has a certification standard that cables and devices must be manufactured to certain specifications to bear the HDMI logo, and the HDMI logo is trademarked so using it without permission is illegal… it doesn’t stop cheap knock offs, but it means if you buy things in stores in most US-aligned countries that bear the HDMI mark, they’re going to work

i would add just a tiny bit more to that if i were her

are only meant to evoke strong emotions and incite others which is in turn only meant to correct hypocrisy

i kinda see where you’re coming from, but i think it’s reversed (and let’s ignore here that left and right are economic terms and we are discussion social politics):

left is progressive - aka change things

right is conservative - aka roll back things

the left has policies to push forward, the right has policies to pull that back in - the right is literally the side of “not progressive”. you can’t be a “not conservative” because they dont have positions of their own

this differs of course to anything but conservative, because there are many flavours of progressive
