Considering the amount of tech and self hosting types that live in cities, it seems like it would be popular to have little mesh intranets all over the place, but I'm not aware of any.
I read about NYC Mesh a while back, and I wonder if there are other similar things already in widespread use that I just haven't heard about.
As someone of middle age that's been thinking of a career change away from all my BofH open source tech roots, and maybe going back to school, I've been very disheartened to see how married a lot of curriculums in public universities are to specific companies. Maybe it was always like this and I didn't notice, I can imagine if you did an engineering program in the 80's you'd have Boeing employees as professors, but fuck me if I'm going to go to Adobe art school.
I vaguely remember someone doing this during a conversation in a bar in Japan years ago, and I saw it again in a manga. What does this mean, if anything? I don't remember what the conversation was about, and we were all drinking so I wouldn't trust my memory anyway
