not much emphasis on boring normal “L” and “G”

"Look I'm not really saying G-word and L-word are normal, but I might be willing to invite them to my BBQs if they never mention it, hate rainbows, and allow straight people to cut in line ahead of them as a civic duty."

Also wait is not even "B" 'normal' enough for this guy?

one sort by controversial later and they are indeed a culture war person

Instant regret.

This is asked in all sincerity: Why is there a coherent “community” of lesbians, gays, and transgender people? What is the important linking commonality that makes those groups into a community?

Gee I wonder. Also new rule whenever someone posts that they're asking something in sincerity or just wanting to understand or "confused", you're allowed to laugh in their face before they can finish. Seriously does anyone even fall for this anymore? It's so obvious.

It's weird how secretive they're being about the location. The website doesn't say where it is, just that it's an hour away (by boat? by plane?) from Singapore. There's no actual photos, just AI mockups or whatever. You need to apply to find out the location apparently. No word on if they have actual buildings or tents or shacks or what.

Imagine if you wanted to go to a non-culty school and they were like "yeah, we'll tell you what country our campus is in... once you apply!"

Saw the title and knew I had to post here. Not quite as big of a self-own as Square selling Tomb Raider for a blockchain / AI pivot; but amusing nonetheless.

What happens when your spurned ex is a devoted archivist, a Wikipedia administrator, and perhaps the most online man the world has ever known?

I already thought he was cool you don't have to sell me on it.

Couldn't make it through the video, but this level of argument has been hashed and rehashed over literally the past thousand years. It's in the training data out the wazoo. And yet the youtube commenters act like it's the most insightful thing they've ever heard, and not copy-pasted from a mediocre philosophy 101 textbook.

each perspective is given its best possible representation.

This was a quite nuanced debate, better than what most humans are capable of.

After Bard warned me against the perils of dropping an egg off a tower, twice, it decided to answer with the solution to the dynamic programming interview question instead of what I asked... but in Chinese lol.

Is this intelligence??

It's not so much that self-driving is easier than automatic trains, but that it's easier than passenger rail in the US at all. Everyone hates rail here it's wild, and the safety expectations in the US are (weirdly) much lower for cars than anything else.

And the comment was edited to add:

(sorry this was a bad example as discussed in the comments so I'll stick with the pretty clear "has stated that black people are animals who need to be surveilled in mass to reduce crime")

Which is the second or third time in this saga I've seen people back down from good points due to bad replies. Like someone needs to tell him he's in the wrong crowd and this isn't normal.

"So wait, you mean you're willing to condemn my mind clones to an eternity of suffering so you can get tiktok views?"

Unprecedented benefits to humanity?

I mean you're competing against bicycles, campfires, bagel slicers, minestrone, electric toothbrushes, and the Sega Saturn; so that's a pretty high bar buster!

These risks range from the further entrenchment of existing inequalities to manipulation and misinformation to the loss of control of autonomous AI systems potentially resulting in human extinction

Two of these things are happening today. Hint: they're the ones that AI people give lip service to before going back to role-playing about acasual basilisks and paperclips and digital clones and whether the ability to auto-respond to auto-generated emails is worth the P(doom) risk.

Great way to turn what might have otherwise been a petition based in reality into a joke I guess.

This starts out 100% indistinguishable from an April Fools post to the point where I had to check the archive date.

Actually looking back is maybe is satire in that annoying half-serious way (check out the nonsense hyperlinks destinations where the "humor" is a bit more obvious)

Also was I just shamed by someone who was in the environmentally horrifying bitcoin industry for keeping dry milk in my cupboard? No thank you.

TL;DR: "I'm no longer a white nationalist because a lot of white people are cucked. Now my new identity is with sufficiently pilled white people. This is much more pragmatic. Also I would totally have a cool black friend if any actually existed which means I'm totally not racist."

Also: did anyone else feel a chill reading about a literal nazi talking about how society accepts him now? America used to despise nazis and now they feel like they can walk around openly. It's terrifying.
