Your friend should find a better, more lazy way to transfer files. People have commented about some and there is lots more.

I'd bet they're going after the big group chats of people sharing illegal material, not so much private chats.

You're not going to like the pinephone, it just isn't ready for you if you're asking for notifications on your PC.

The calls are okay AT BEST. SMS/MMS have come a long way and should be okay. Battery life is MAYBE a day, if you're lucky. Anything beyond that is painful unless you want to spend hours getting it to work with your own code.

Why not use your current DNS solution? I've got all my hosts using my self hosted DNS at home.

There's free domains too. I can't recommend any but I know .tk should be free.

I'm on a pixel 3 also. The size is important but the front facing speakers are amazing. I can't find anything else like it.

Can we fucking not? Seriously, what's the point behind war and this shit? Isn't there bigger problems that we can throw money at? Fuck.

I'm the only one in my friend group who likes to try new messaging apps. The best I've done is bridge everything into matrix and try and get them on there.... None of them have moved.

I don't mind the old kernel, packages, etc. However, one of my biggest problems with debain so far is that SELinux isn't installed by default..... I've installed and enabled it but it doesn't seem to let me SSH in. I'm still troubleshooting but its annoying to have to fight with it.

I'd love to continue to use Fedora but I have no faith in RedHat. They don't give a shit about their community anymore, including Fedora, so I believe its just a matter of time before that's dead too.

Yeah, and my ISP has been legally told to block all Access to IPTV and do so. Why this happens I don't understand (or agree with). Going after the source is the only one true way to stop access.

Cloudflare is a popular service for public torrent sites because they cache the content, protect from DDOS, and hide the server address. They're not on the hook for what their customers do.

Never heard of Nostr.

PKI? GPG? Private key shows you own the account. All instances keep a copy of your public key. You go direct to the instance to get the content. When you want to post you sign your message and send it along.

I'm sure smarter people then me have considered this and more so I'm not sure what's possible.

It's their instance, their rules.

This is kind of my point. lemmy.world doesn't like what this community is doing so it's not hosted on their server. I get and respect that.

What I don't understand is the rationality behind blocking this specific community. It's someone somewhere deciding what I can or can't see on a remote host they have no control over.
