I agree 100%, NiMH cells (the standard for rechargeable AA, AAA, I even have some AAAA for certain tablet styli) have gotten so cheap, they're sometimes cheaper than alkaline at first use! It's insane.
If you don't have a charger I've heard good things about the Ikea Stenkol one, cheap (5-12€ depending on country) but should be reliable. Ikea also sells the cells.
Way to go, modern phone screens are not too bad..I think a big reason I enjoy dumb ereaders is the lack of multitasking lol
Your kindle probably has a busted micro usb port (the cables too can stop working for data transfer), no idea if it's too difficult to solder a new one.. I would try cleaning it up really well first
Yes exactly! On Kindles to install that app we need a jailbreak (and the procedure will depend on device and firmware version, since we are trying to circumvent Amazon limits), most of the OS stays the same and you can still use the normal "reader" app.
Of course if you are already satisfied by the normal reader all you need to do to gain more freedom is managing your books with Calibre on a computer, it'll take care of converting to kindle format if you put an epub in it, and send it to device, with just one click. My dad does this after I showed him once or twice and he's not techy at all.

No but you can jailbreak them, and their OS is linux-based; unfortunately if it's a new Kindle or newish with an up to date firmware, you might have to wait for someone to release a new jb method. With a jb you can install Koreader (which alone can do everything useful), but also people (mobileread forums) have compiled a working Python library and a terminal with bash..mostly useful to show off :) you can run neofetch
If you're like me and need Koreader (has impeccable pdf reflow and stardict support), a Kobo is way easier, and you don't have to wait
The're right, another thing you notice in a dry house (like Swiss homes in winter pounding crazy heating) is that you can get even painful (to the hand) mini electric shocks just walking around with slippers/crocs and then touching the metal kitchen vent, chargers..unless you ground yourself once in a while. Never happens in a humid climate/house.

I think it's a very sensible decision, I'm from a EU country with 250W limit which is very anemic for the dangerous city streets we have in my town. A throttle is much safer especially when starting from a stop, but it's currently illegal to have on.

Energicas and Zeros are single-speed, they have done pretty damn well. Btw I'm not against a clutch personally. But it's rare in EV land, see the Brammos for example (which were more of a flop in the market, but not for the clutch I don't think)
Same experience as Dr Wesker, I think most things need a bit of "air" to keep worst anaerobic bacteria at bay. Why not a bowl with a kitchen cloth on top, nothing tight? That's what I do with fresh stuff (if cooked, sealed containers)
But even thus the fridge environment is not always ideal, I feel like loads of stuff (exept with this summer heat) lasts longer outside of it (wooden basket with cloth on top 😄 )
For example potatoes: never in the fridge
Tomatoes, if they're good they'll last months outside as well
