I’m not sure why you’re being hostile towards Chapelle after finding that context. He was trying to make some sort of peace and got slighted.

And it’s everyone’s job to try to bridge divides in this climate. Would you also tell Swift to stay in her lane? How about Schwarzenegger?

Also despite her being trashy and stupid, Beobert is a representative of her district. If she’s shut out, then her constituents are shut out. And that snubbing is exactly how the maga virus started and keeps perpetuating.

More (faux?) moral outrage… why should I be surprised. Though I do like how you just sidestepped addressing my first sentence’s point and just spew out more Bad Things one side is doing. Bad things happen in war - surprise. It’s the reason why war’s the last resort option for getting your way.

Now try to think about why it got pushed to this point. Hint; it’s not because Israel is a mustache twirling villain. Another hint: it’s more complicated than the .ml articles paint a view of. I’ll trust the people whose job it is to understand these things rather than lemmings who get fed propaganda and pretend they have all the black/white answers.

When the child killer’s opposition have this as their main strategy, I’m a bit more sympathetic to the child killers. And the context of this conversation is dropping support for representation if they don’t have all the views that align with you. It’s not about the Israel/Palestine conflict. So please don’t try the Think of the Children crap on me - it’s not relevant to this discussion.

I did, yes. The second link has the relevant quote from the CFO - "We're probably -- you know, maybe we cried too much last year when we were hitting numbers that were 3.5% of sales".

Though looking at the context, it looks like he regrets the actions (specifically increased security hired) that came from that. There doesn't seem to be anything about the link to store closures.

The actual link came from an article Shepard Pie below you provided here (Is Shoplifting Really Surging?). Apparently nationwide, shoplifting is down - except in certain cities

But the increase in shoplifting appears to be limited to a few cities, rather than being truly national. [..] There are some exceptions, particularly New York City, where shoplifting has spiked.

Out of the 24 cities, 17 reported decreases in shoplifting.

I'm guessing the 7 remaining cities are where the stores were closed.

Yea I remember that argument being used for when they removed likes/dislikes - surprise, YT’s not flooded with false videos any more than it was before.

And it doesn’t surprise me that some shithead that uses the term poojeet is against tools to help reduce toxic brigading.

~~I hate Starbucks and Panera, and would never go into one if I had the choice~~

My mistake, I see what you mean now. I don’t think that matters whether you can pour yourself more or not? It’s not like you can pour yourself more Monster drinks

[-] speff@disc.0x-ia.moe -1 points 11 months ago

It’s an energy drink the same way a cup of coffee is an energy drink. It’s being called that by the plaintiffs because of the negative connotation “energy drink” has - zero other reason. And it’s not like Panera hid the fact that it had caffeine…

It's funny. If you and your neighbors got your preferred representatives, then would I have to read this VoTINg DoESn'T MaTTEr garbage from the other party?

Edit: Oh wait, nvm. Other side also bitches when they lose elections. No idea how I forgot.

....what. I genuinely don't know how we got into a discussion about gerrymandering from the original topic. If you want to yell at someone for that, I think you replied to the wrong person - I don't really care. Gerrymandering can be overcome with higher voter turnout - something I've been trying to tell the people here to do.

Outside of that, I don't really know what point you're trying to make so ... good luck with w/e you're dealing with.

I suspected nothing I said would’ve been helpful for you anyway - it was more for other people reading.

[-] speff@disc.0x-ia.moe -3 points 11 months ago

Good for you, but that’s not the situation the average American is in. Most people still don’t vote, so someone reading this would likely be able to do something.

He’s soft in the largest generational blocs (millennials gen z) and we all know it.

No-one in politics should give a fuck about millennials or zoomers because they don’t vote in large enough numbers to matter. If they voted, sure, cater to them. But as long as they keep having the woe is me, voting doesn’t do anything attitude, they’re going to keep getting ignored.

This is also why I think Bernie is a dumbass - not because I don’t agree with his policies, but because he tried to court people who won’t make the small effort to cast a ballot in his favor.
