Some widely spoken language I imagine, Chinese, Spanish, English I don't care. Since .com is intended for commercial use, the language of the companies biggest market makes sense here as well.

You're also forgetting that the likes of google.ru, google.nl and google.every_other_country_code exist.

Also there are plently of websites the have language selection in the site that overrides that header, look at Wikipedia.

There are plently of sites in non english languages that cater to non English speakers only, not every site has or needs 10 different translations.

At this point we also have translation engines in the browser so for pages in languages you don't know, that you absolutely need to access, you can use it to understand the page to a decent level and/or be able to navigate to a version in your language if available.

How many people use Pornhub for discovery though? I usually find interesting content through a search engine, through word of mouth, through posts on here, etc. at which point it doesn't really matter where the porn is hosted. A lot of the useful content I use aren't even on Pornhub.

Seriously though, I agree with you, githubs value to open source is not it's discover-ability. Personally I think its value comes from the stability, as much as I'm an advocate for self-hosting I know from the amount of dead links on the internet that we could have lost a lot of projects or at least they would move about as hosts went down.

I quite like the idea of federated gitea, although technically there is already a federated platform for porn if you count Lemmy and/or mastadon.

My point is that the incumbent party and the opposition are both anti democracy and authoritarian compared to the rest of the world.

Look at the police brutality against peaceful activists in the capitol last night and tell me if that was China that wouldn't be used by the American media to tell Americans how authoritarian China is.

This is happening under the democrats, the alleged protectors of democracy. Last time I checked freedom of speech was a democratic ideal in America and the right to protest was a human right.

Did looking at Nazis as the bad guys stop peace?

But no I'm asking if you support critically or uncritically the allies in ww2.

If you support the allies even though they committed war crimes and you don't at least uncritically support an oppressed peoples struggle then you are at best a hypocrite and at worst a racist.

Swap excess money for excess natural resources and you've got the US

[-] spiderplant@lemm.ee 0 points 1 year ago

Alright what about warcrimes committed by resistance fighters and the allied forced during ww2?

If you support those groups even though they have done bad shit then you're a hypocrite and you should try and understand why you consider them differently.

Ah yes let's apply it to the side with rights, running water, food, the biggest military in the middle east, backed by the US, given free reign to commit war crimes by the west, deeply racist, most of the population have not lost family in the fight, has fortified bunkers in every house and have no fear of having their house bulldozed to make way for a stronger neighbours population.

Not starving millions of people right on their doorstep is not highest on their list of priorities?

It's pretty easy to not cut off their power supply that they control.

It's pretty easy to stop carpet bombing civilians (including the banned use of phosphorus weapons near densely populated areas which happened yesterday)

It's pretty easy to not stop humanitarian aid.

It's pretty easy to stop blockading them.

It's pretty easy to stop killing them indiscriminately.

They just choose not to do the right thing.

Terrorism or liberation?

How will the opposite help?

Injustice can happen under peace, so peace is not the answer. Peace is the language of the oppressor, liberation and justice is the language of the oppressed.

Also if America backs someone and calls their opponents terrorists even through they funded them, does that mean the opponents are actually terrorists?

I mean its not that crazy, I'm writing this on a moto Z2 play. It was released June 2017, not long till year 6 bit hope it goes longer. It's perfectly usable, runs most apps fine, can even run TFT.

Phones haven't changed that much recently, this model has a great screen, 4gb of ram(more than some laptops that are still being released!), and a decent chip. Only issue is the battery is sub 3000mah but I know of a few models from around the same time went up to 5000mah.

You do get better mileage running an OS like lineage and being degoogled since a lot of their tracking processes kill the battery and slows things down.

Ah yes econ101, taking a complex and interconnected system that we don't fully understand, boiling it down to its simplest and most incorrect model.

This is a global issue, the fed pumping money shouldn't have had a big an effect. My best guess would be a mix of covid money from many countries going to the rich increasing the wealth gap, gas and oil companies hiking prices because of Russia even though a lot of them have no link to Russian oil or gas and causing a knock on effect. You've also got a number of bubbles around the world such as housing and car loans, these are definitely caused by greed.
