I dunno but it explains a lot about Atlassian's UX, doesn't it?

This list comes across as very self-serving though. It's basically saying men's issues are only a problem for Feminism when it can be framed as also impacting women. I read the parent poster as calling for rising above a narrow single gender view of equal rights.

Important consequence of this in the context of elementary schools: most little boys don't lift up the seat when they pee and their aim is atrocious. At my kids' school, the gender neutral bathrooms are the toilets of last resort.

It's not even the being dead part. Ask yourself, "Is this the society you want? Is this how it should function?"

Is this your first economic crisis or something? Do some search-replace work and this article looks like a copy-paste dupe from 2008. Their capitalist society is about to get a market correction as the bubble bursts. That's all.

The real propaganda at work here is that anything negative about China is automatically "red scare" and not just boring old "business news".

Why include R&D up to this point? Do we say Mars Pathfinder (Sojourner) actually cost billions because we include previous Mars missions?

I think it's just a bad article. They throw out numbers but don't say how they got them.

No one seems to mention license considerations when talking about static linking. Even if your app is open source, your particular license may not be legally compatible with the GPL, for example. 3BSD, MIT, and Apache most likely don't change in a single binary but it's kind of a new thing that no one was really thinking of before when mixing licenses together.

I think this default okay assumption comes from most developers having a cloud-centric view where there's technically no "distribution" to trigger copyright.

Conveniently, biking will be a good alternative again once the bike lane isn't full of illegally parked rideshare cars.

(Not from MN but Ubers are a plague for safe city biking where I am)

If those long threads were mostly on topic (about federation), that would at least be something. They present interesting view points but at all the wrong times and in huge numbers. This post is about examining their behavior and their effect on conversations. I think they've shown it to us.

Even domestically, Americans hate this crap. No one likes the TSA. No one thinks they do a goddamned thing. It's a massive invasion of privacy and a huge waste of money. And then we have this "Real ID" thing looming over us just to get on an airplane (again, for a domestic flight only).

You'd think we could unite against such a simple common enemy but apparently no one has the time. I guess politicians are worried about a sudden glut of unemployed TSA workers who's only job skills are identifying the water bottle I forgot in my bag.

I recoil from Apple products like a vampire does sunlight. But AirTags are awful tempting. How well do they work, really? Especially with a Pixel phone.

I don't think you get that UWB fine grained locating? If I was trying to find my keys in a large grassy field, is that feasible?

  • Password Store + OpenKeychain - Supports Yubikeys (NFC and USB) for both decrypt and ssh+git sync
  • Syncthing
    • Uploads my photos to where another script can publish them to my photo gallery
    • Like Google Photos with "unlimited" storage and original quality
  • Element - Self hosted Synapse with Googlechat bridge eliminated regular Google Chat for me
  • Firefox
  • KeePassXC - Yubikeys don't work for my wife. We handle shared passwords with this + Syncthing.
  • Aegis - 2FA with workable backup

I'm looking for:

  • Launcher most comparable to Nova. Majority FOSS launchers seem to be text-based search things which is getting way too into the weeds for me.
  • Mail app with good search. I don't think this actually exists because IMAP sucks too much but lack of search will always make the transition from Gmail nearly impossible.
