I found a number of articles specifically stating that video games and software remain illegal. Unfortunately I couldn't pinpoint the specific part of the law as they appear to br written in French and was running into hurdles with Google Translate character limits that I couldn't be bothered to work around.

I'm not sure if it's explicitly illegal or if music, videos, etc are explicitly exempted, or if software etc is different due to terms of service for example.

Furthermore, it's illegal for anyone to record your IP address torrenting a work and track you down that way as it violates Swiss data protection laws.

Exactly the process I went through! The golden parachutes are egregious enough, what can we call this practice of just giving them free money in perpetuity? The golden waterslide perhaps? 🤣

My understanding is that HDR formats utilise 10-bit color formats rather than being strictly equivalent.

From Wikipedia:

HDR video refers to a video encoded in an HDR format. Thoses HDR video have a greater bit depth, luminance and color volume than standard dynamic range (SDR) video which uses a conventional gamma curve.

As it alludes, HDR is more than just a 10-bit color space. Encoding anime in 10-bit doesn't take advantage of the greater luminance or dynamic range. It does take advantage of the color space to minimise banding.

They've committed to investing $10B into OpenAI. The engineering cost of swapping out the Bing integration wouldn't even register.

If the community is dead and it's only bots posting I don't think that makes the community any less dead.

It seems you completely misinterpreted the intention of the article (willingly or ignorantly).

At Skiff, we take an authoritative position that PGP is no longer useful, long outdated by better encryption protocols, encumbered by unneeded complexity, and hard to use even from the start.

Except for "no longer useful" the rest is pretty much unanimously agreed upon within the community.

As a user you don't always have access to the database. It's much easier to work out of Excel than to find the right person to ask in the corporate hierarchy just for them to say no.

This is true and something to consider. There's also no app for Crunchyroll which is personally a huge downside.

It's still the best user experience and I seriously dread having to use other people's TVs now. Even major players like Samsung are seriously lacking in comparison.

It's not about preference. It's about what every single other email client does, including their own on different platforms, and this is even fixed in their upcoming beta of this same app.

This is a great idea! I wish more websites did warrant canaries, and those that do often fail to maintain them or plan for the case when a gag order prevents them from updating an existing canary. The only thing I would suggest is making it more clear that being in an alpha stage means that the product should not be relied upon in critical situations.

Tor is going to be way too slow in most cases to download anything sizeable. Most of Tor's benefits are when browsing onion sites and used in conjunction with other tools.
