There isn't a functional open source frontend that I'm aware of, the best you can get is modded like MyInsta or Instaflow (or Revanced if you want open source mods)

My family is conservative and I'm still dependant on them for healthcare, so calling them out usually isn't worth it although sometimes I still do.

There are also people I know (many of whom are relatives) who seem like normal people but then support Trump and all of his policies. I want to think they're not horrible people and that they're just brainwashed, but recently I've been seeing some of my friends jump on the alt-right bandwagon and posting extremely racist stuff to be "edgy", even after leaving the far-right culture bubble they lived in. This is the sort of stuff that even when I was still a conservative I would never have thought it would be okay to promote, and I grew up in the same environment they did so it seems like they know perfectly well what they're doing. After all of this I'm starting to think that maybe many of them are genuinely terrible people.

I don't own a car either but unless we improve public transit and city planning in the US there are situations where not using a car is simply impractical. My city is enormous and while my ebike works for shopping trips and getting to places <20mi away, I can just barely reach downtown and back with it before it dies. If it's pouring rain, it's not waterproof and it gets me soaked which is both uncomfortable and a health hazard. There are a lot of activities promoted by leftists in my area that I don't go to because I would be spending 3 hours in transit to get there and back and I simply don't have time for that (and Uber is too expensive). There are other places that take 3 hours one way to get to on public transit but 20 minutes by car. Where I live is not at all designed with sustainable transit in mind, and while I don't own a car here I don't blame people for wanting to use one. Not to mention I have almost been killed multiple times because the cycling infrastructure here is 45mph 6 line roads with no sidewalk or bike lane.

Maybe they have a way to unblock major search engine crawlers but block it for everyone else now? I know Cloudflare was doing something similar for some bot protection mechanism, and this seems like something news outlets would want to do also.

PSL seems to actively organize stuff, I've seen PSL promote a lot of protests over social media and pro-Palestine organizations like PYM and SJP occasionally repost PSL stuff. Meanwhile I haven't seen Dems do a thing except maybe help people sign up to vote or something.

I considered using pijul but everything in Nix/Guix is oriented around git as are the plugins for my text editor and CLI, and there aren't good self-hosted web frontends that I can use to put pijul projects on my linkedin profile or whatever. I want to switch to it but the ecosystem surrounding it needs to actually exist first.
