Man, if only there were some way to get rid of documents permanently. Like how one might get rid of a body by cremating it. Oh well, time to secretly hide these binders in a coffin.

That being said I’ve heard the alternative theory that trump buried her on mar-a-lago grounds (or wherever the fuck it was) so that he could claim that the grounds were a graveyard, for tax purposes. (I do not believe this)

Thanks, I have now skimmed the paper. It reads like someone trying to convert a libertarian to communism via facts and logic, which is good, though that would specifically target libertarians with strong academic foundations to their thinking. I doubt enough capitalists/libertarians are willing to reach that conclusion, even if a path is laid out in detail as it is in the paper. Why tear down a perfectly good (at least in the near term) power structure that benefits them in the name of facts and logic, when they could just continue to benefit?

All that aside, I gotta admit I was initially a little skeptical of the paper’s direct relevance to sneerclub. It’s worth mentioning that this paper talks a lot about perverse libertarian case studies like charter cities and voluntary slavery, which are definitely in our sneer purview. Thanks for sharing!

Wow, amazing story. Same thing actually happened to a friend of mine

(But srsly, I enjoyed that.)

I’ll allow it! But obviously the solution is to water cool the hot water being dumped into rivers.

Oh yeah sorry, sometimes I forget that board members and execs are the core contributors to human innovation, and that Google spends all its money on hiring the best and brightest think tank people. It’s why they only make good and ethical decisions that no one gets mad at, ever. /s

To be completely fair it appears he has experience in medical research, with some publications in the 80’s. That being said his LI plots his trajectory from just some guy to thinker tanker grifter guy.

My initial reaction was essentially a mix of “sorry to this man” and “well I don’t really expect psychology today to publish anything approaching meaningful on tech/ai” so I wanted to see if those reactions were justified. Well…

This makes PT look like a total rag. The author, John Nosta, bills himself as “The World’s Leading Innovation Theorist and Keynote Speaker” which really just sounds like “lecture circuit grifter” to me. Let’s take a look at the rest of his front page:

STRATEGIST

Driving change that is changing the world. John’s informed voice has become a beacon of insight to help dissect and define innovation in health, medicine, and technology.

INNOVATOR

Not just a simple observer, John is directly engaged with top companies, thinkers and initiatives. His perspective is from the inside out and provides an “insiders” view of a complex and changing world.

THOUGHT LEADER

John is consistently ranked among the top names in health technology and innovation. Beyond simply an influencer, he is also defined as “most admired” to “top disruptor” in technology, life sciences and medicine.

So yeah if you asked chatGPT to come up with the profile for an AI lecture circuit grifter, it’d probably look like the above.

Looking through his contributions to PT you might think he is just recycling armchair AI philosophy to make a quick buck and honestly I’m having a hard time thinking otherwise.

Raytheon: we’re developing a blueprint for evaluating the risk that a large laser-guided missile could aid in someone threatening biology with death

(Ok I know you need to pretend I’m an AI doomer for this sneer but whatever)

true, just, something you don’t “necessarrily agree with” is a weird hill to die on

Not saying anything new here: Longtermism is just more grift for the mill. Just another ism that conveniently dismisses the need to spend money on addressing issues of today so that we can instead pour money into MIRI.

If you wanna talk about long term, except for a small percentage of people, everyone’s conscious contributions to the future (directly or indirectly through donating etc.) will be outweighed completely by the sum total of their plastic usage. The microplastics alone could get into people’s eyes and cause them a quanta of inconvenience!!! Think of the eyes!!! (Also their brain, but who cares about that)
