It’s my pleasure!

Two fun lil things in an overall gratifying episode:

  • TIL Sam Harris is a nepo baby! His mother created golden girls
  • SSC mentioned, and by extension, that Scott, as “the SSC guy”

Thanks for the history lesson (serious).

I mostly just wanted to make a bad horseshoe theory reference.

Now I want a song parody of Kyrie by Mr. Mister where instead of “Kyrie Eleison” it’s “(mer)cury chelation”

Ugh, I’m seeing that book (and face) everywhere, especially at the two bookstores I like the most (that is, the ones closest to me).

Nobody needs a book on how the author spent a year huffing his current billionaire crush’s farts.

Hey OP, let me spell this out for you.

In your post title, the subject is “Sneerclub”, the verb is “take”, and the object is “Singulairty”.

@glitzersachen@hachyderm.io responded directly. In their response, the subject was “We”, aka sneerclub, the verb was “spell”, and the object was “it”, which of course refers back to the object in your title, the “Singulairty”. As was pointed out, you made a typo.

No judgement on your level of intelligence here but as glitzersachen pointed out, a literal reading of what was written would have (and does, as I have shown above) revealed this. Given this example, and many other examples you’ve given in this post, you are either unable to critically read, or unwilling. LW is much the same. That is a major part of the difference between us and them, and you.

Also, a lot of your replies here indicate that you think the big difference between us and LW is “knowledge”, and that we are “mainstream” while LW is i guess alternative. I think this is totally false. I think the knowledge base is necessarily the same, since LW has the same level of access to knowledge that we do. The difference is that we actually critically engage with knowledge (or at least try to, we aren’t perfect) while LW projects whatever they want onto knowledge and spits out garbage. If you want to call reading something closely and comprehending it as correctly as possible before responding “mainstream,” then sure, go ahead. That would just make the “alternative” (aka you, LW, etc.) just plain idiotic.

(Also: in case I misidentified any of the SVO stuff, it doesn’t actually matter. my point still stands)

I'm with you. MY LIFE HAS BEEN PROFOUNDLY WORSE since I learned about the prisoner's dilemma. Specifically, any time some PD variant team-based exercise popped up, I just knew some MF on another team would think they were so clever and bring up the prisoner's dilemma. Oh, we should defect every time, they'd say. Hey, buddy, we all know about the fucking PD! Just fucking cooperate! If you applied decision theory, you wouldn't make everyone feel like shit, and you'd cooperate! Totally the same vibe, right?

Oh hey, it's the contrapositive of the parable of the punk bar kicking out the "nice" nazi.

MediaCorp: "In the interests of increasing our company valuation, we will make our business decisions as far right as legally acceptable, as any profit-seeking company is wont to do. Unrelatedly, inside our economic framework, we don't care about the actors and writers since we can replace them with robots. They can starve to death after they lose their homes."

LW: crickets chirping

MediaCorp: "We will continue to have token representation in our media to remain palatable to statistically significant market segments"

LW: "Where's the economic incentive? DAE silent majority???"
