Is there any collection of such inspirational / wisdom quotes?
If not, then one should be started.
And this quote should be added to it.

I expected the classic "be the change that you wabt to see in the world", but despite being similar, this one is very good as well.

I would argue that it's not a binary option. Whether phone can or can not perform tasks that laptop can. It's a set / range of different use-cases.
And as you said, even the glassy rectangle form factor took many use-cases from laptop. If the question is "can phone do all the tasks that laptop can do", the answer will always be "no". But if you analyse the use-cases and sort them by percentage, then I would argue that things like "browsing the web", "editing documents", "chatting with people" etc. will be the most predominant. And those are the tasks that current phones either can do or at least could do, if the appropriate software was developed for it. Yes, playing modern video games, photo editing, video editing, rendering graphics, programming and other advanced tasks would not be done easily on phone's limited hardware, and that is why PCs, either laptops or desktops, will remain the device of choice for productivity. But as my initial point stands, the percentage of those use-cases is far outweighed by casual use-cases.

lol
but this does bring up a real concern:
I highly doubt that "desktop PCs" will still be a thing in 7 decades.
the desktop/laptop will most likely get replaced by something else
and if modern PCs have some roadblocks for installing any OS you want (SecureBoot, and soon Microsoft Pluton), then imagine how much harder it will be on the next iteration of personal devices.
Well, "will be". Already is. On phones. Most phones require serious wizardry or make it basically impossible to install other OS on them.
And as far as I see, phones will be the thing that takes place of PCs.

so yes, I would not mind if the FOSS community abandons the whole Year Of The Linux Desktop™ meme right now and instead starts to focus on ensuring that the upcoming platform will allow us to have the freedom. Let Microsoft enjoy the dominance on PC. Maybe challenge them every now and then. But the primary focus of FOSS community should be the preemptive liberation of the platform that will follow PC.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

wait, what about if you have two communities where mods and admins are fine. Are there any options to federate those communities?

all this time I was under impression that communities already federate

lol, no, I do not work at volvo.
I'm using beta client just so that I get cool stuff sooner. And also to help make gaming on Linux better for others by finding and reporting issues in the beta client.
