That's fair. But what they've said so far seems to strongly point at this being the reason.

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fediverse:

The majority of Fediverse platforms are based on free and open-source software, and create connections between servers using the ActivityPub protocol. Some software still supports older federation protocols as well, such as OStatus, the Diaspora protocol and Zot. Diaspora* is the only actively developed software project classified under the original definition of Fediverse that does not support ActivityPub.[5][6]

You would have to look at those citations to see how authoritative they are. This may also still be open to interpretation?

That would be rather clever!

I read a blog that analyses a lot of financial and other news and they use this term frequently. It took me a while to figure it out because I was more familiar with the acronym you mentioned.

One major difference, however, is greater concentration of wealth and news outlets.

Yes. There's exponentially higher levels of exposure to brainwashing propaganda in 2024 vs. 1920, to unsafe levels of consumption.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the post from @megopie@beehaw.org too? They seemed to be criticizing this plastics control agreement so I was countering that idea. On repeat readings, it still seems ambiguous.

That's fair. I did misinterpret the article and didn't notice the date, so I've deleted my post.

The profitability and market viability of fossil fuels depends pretty heavily on plastics production as a way of profitably disposing of byproducts. Take that away and they’re much less competitive with other energy sources.

Reducing fossil fuel extraction is something we need to do though. Regardless, the agreement is not talking about eliminating plastics completely but regulating their production. If you wanted to address what you described, couldn't they regulate it so plastics are used for more durable things, like plastic lumber, car parts, furniture, etc. instead of all the endless disposable stuff?

I don't believe that the USB-C ports can take video input, so you would most likely need to use either and HDMI to DP or USB-C to DP adapter.

Ugh, balenaetcher messed with my USB pen drive so that I had to jump through hoops to make it usable again. Based on web searches, this was not uncommon at that time. I haven't had issues with ventoy so far. However, maybe I'll just go back to Rufus.
