I would personally recommend fedora because it is usually very solid, stable and bleeding edge (frequently updated) it has Wayland on gnome desktop, endeavour is also bleeding edge but it is a terminal centric distro (without software center) not recommended for begginers.
If you need portability take the one with a good battery because over time the battery is only going to get worse, I have a Dell G3 which I love but the battery never lasted long so it's not a good laptop for portability.
They have a shitty way to be useful.
You could just keep vanadium and change the DNS of your phone for mullvad DNS for exemple to block the ads in (nearly ) every app.
I did the same with firefox, it works better that way.
