There's an edge case where you want the guys in balaclavas to show up.

usually, by "woke" movies people mean movies only made for the sake of being "woke", no?

This is what people using the term really want you to think. That they're fine with incidental/statistically correct/non-performative diversity and inclusion and are just pointing out when it happens for the sake of itself to the detriment of the quality of media.

The reality though is quite different, and people will call "woke" at almost any non-white, non-straight, or non-male character in a major role, or a non-cis character in even a passing role.

Two and a half months is insane for a practical skills demonstration for a job interview. Those should be a couple of hours at most.

Or it was overcast on those days. 46/52 is far better than you'd be able to manage in my area.

A temporary one that you're expected to remove as soon as you've created the admin user(s) you need, but yes. It should only be there during initial setup and ideally removed before the server is ever exposed to the internet.

I think it's even more absurd than that. The CEO/board decided to make a long-term investment which wasn't going to pay off for several years. To what should be the surprise of no one, that meant short term losses.

Framing an investment in a massive amount of new infrastructure as a loss because it didn't immediately start operating in the black is beyond unreasonable, but that's the demand when all that matters is quarterly gains and year-over-year growth.

He didn't command, direct, or approve of any of their methods. He only benefited, and protected, with disgust and grief for the values he once held dear.

So… I lied. I cheated. I bribed men to cover the crimes of other men. I am an accessory to murder. But the most damning thing of all… I think I can live with it. And if I had to do it all over again, I would. Garak was right about one thing, a guilty conscience is a small price to pay for the safety of the Alpha Quadrant. So I will learn to live with it. Because I can live with it. I can live with it… Computer, erase that entire personal log.

Truly disgusted and grief stricken.

Realistically (i.e., not in Star Trek), a ship traveling toward something will have its engine cone pointed towards it as it decelerates for rendezvous.

Payment processors do care, but not for the reasons people seem to assume. NSFW purchases have disproportionately high rates of buyer remorse and charge reversals, which understandably make them much less desirable for anyone to deal with.

Prudishness may also play a part, but the chargeback rate is a major factor.

Seven didn't. At least not originally. Annika was dragged along by her parents out into the middle of nowhere to get assimilated.

Yes, she decided as an adult to continue her career in space, but she definitely didn't make that original choice.

What's especially wild to me is that even the position of "it's ambiguous" gets almost as much pushback as trying to argue that one of them is universally correct.

Last time this came up it was my position that it was ambiguous and needed clarification and had someone accuse me of taking a prescriptive stance and imposing rules contrary to how things were actually being done. How asking a person what they mean or seeking clarification could possibly be prescriptive is beyond me.

Bonus points, the guy telling me I was being prescriptive was arguing vehemently that implicit multiplication having precedence was correct and to do otherwise was wrong, full stop.

Plus there are plenty of people, like myself, who live in areas where the electricity comes from mostly renewable sources.
