Legality. Israel can't arrest someone in international waters. They can kidnap someone in international waters. But an arrest implies they have any legality to it. They do not. They're the ones committing a crime not her.

It's like saying the bank robber arrested their hostages.

Doomerism is the last stage before the liberal inside of you dies. When you let that die; come meet the rest of us and touch some grass. We're the ones that have been doing more than vote shaming for those 8 years.

We could really use more numbers. We're friendly and welcoming to anyone that's not a fascist. We bring water, first aid, and vegan protein bars. We just need more of you to kill the doomer inside of you.

You can even hold onto that "vote shaming" if it matters to you. But it's kind of useless to "be right about it" at this point. You either hold onto your doomerism and do nothing. Or maybe join the only people doing something to resist. Because even if you think we're "cringe" we are all you've got now.

Oh, and bring a mask.

I work at Microsoft and they just did massive layoffs all of this year. Last round I was layed off. 9000 of us in the last round.

I say this, because, I think people might associate tech jobs and education with being more liberal and pro immigrantion. This is not the case at all. The liberals are being offered fascism as a means to deal with their unemployment and will accept it with open arms as their material conditions decline. Most people I know from my job would absolutely join ICE for the paycheck as the tech sector lays off more and more people.

I'm sure we are seeing this in other industries as well. But just sharing for mine. ICE is going to look like an attractive job for a lot "middle class" Americans to be able to make rent. None of them are having class conflict conversations either. These people have next to no idea of what is going on.

We will not just get the hogs joining ICE. You're gonna see a lot of liberals start to justify it as their livelihood starts to get connected to it too. This is how fascism works.

Before I was diagnosed and living with my girlfriend (now wife) I tried to explain to her why I put important things I didn't want to leave the house with on/in my shoes. I'm amazed she's still with me to this day.

It's a great tinkering language. Which is a lot of what I do for personal projects no one else will ever see. I find it's biggest strength is also it's biggest weakness. It's really easy to write that you assume you don't have to care about under the hood stuff.

But something as simple as using a list instead of a set can turn a 2 minute script into a 2 hour script pretty quickly.

I remember when I first started using it I was working with building a list and then comparing elements of another list to see if it was contained.

My list was static in the comparison so I just did a "x in Y".

Y was massive though.

If I was using any other language I would have thought about the data type more and obviously use a set/hash for O(1) lookup. But since I was new to python I didn't even think about it because it didn't seem to give a fuck about data types.

A simple set_a = set(list_a) was all I needed. I think python is so easy to pick up that no one even bothers to optimize what they are writing. So you get even worse performance than it should have.

Was a personal project. But absolutely. Half my job is trying to explain why something is taking so long when in reality I actually it's already done I just don't want to do nothing for the next few days.

Managers never really know. And other engineers don't care. It's all about balancing expectations.

Yeah I agree. Pretty sure the whole trust part goes out the window when you aren't releasing the actual raw footage to the press.

Unironically, if all they did was just cut out parts they didn't want, using open source ffmpeg to rencode and strip metadata would have been the best way to do it.

Using Adobe is just fucking sloppy. Not to mention, I'm pretty sure Adobe own any content that got uploaded to their servers during the edit. They likely have at least frames of it sitting on their servers if not the whole video.

Oh man, you'd be surprised how many Latino white supremacists Nazis there are out there.

Because he was a child. Sadly he wasn't even given the chance to grow up and learn what the police really are.

If there is ever justice for Palestine the trials will be short. These bastards are so proud of their support for genocide.
