Theres a whole alien race, The Ferengi, that are obsessed with something called latinum and getting as much as possible because it can't be replicated. Other than that, it has no other useful purpose. You could replicate anything you want for free or you could get some latinum and go to a Ferengi bar and pay someone else to replicate it for you.

So basically yeah, Ferengi are also post-scarcity but since they are the capitalist caricatures of the show, they have random substance xyz so they can still have a reason for rich and poor to exist.

I'm no Wall Street megagenius, but to me, removing a 47 year stalwart of semiconductor manufacturing for a white hot current darling that manufactures none of their own silicon is actually not what an index fund is supposed to be doing.

But money is all made up anyway so what do I know.

I was genuinely convinced they offered 10gig service in some markets. Doesn't surprise me that its all marketing nonsense.

Just a tip for anyone who wants to know, if you have Comcast business internet they'll tell you you have to use their modem but, you can swap it out with a 3rd patty modem and use the live chat service to get it activated. Then you can send back their modem for free at a ups store. Every salesperson will tell you its not possible but it absolutely is.

I don't like to stereotype based on names but, if anyone has ever been Gwennyth it's her.

No! Not our MSI! Not the same folks who strongarmed reviewers to prevent them publishing a bad review, or scalping video cards during the pandemic or the ones that released defective AIO coolers and then half-assed the recall.

Say it isn't so!

Analogue is doing the lord's work. Software is easy to copy infinite times but hardware isn't prevalent or going to last forever.

I hope someday things like this will end up at a more commodity price

Dope Wars Classic. The best modern recreation of the TI Calculator/Palm Pilot game Drugwar.

Still awesome to play to this day.

I tend to agree. Especially with midroll ads. And I also see YouTube Red/Premium/Plus as too expensive especially compared to free.

I wonder if it cost $1-$3 per month instead of $14 if they wouldn't get so many more subscribers that they would still end up making more money.

Of course they would still be incentivized to slowly raise prices over time but I could be talked into $2 a lot quicker than $15.

Love to see this and hate to see it at the same time.

I wonder how long interoperability will last or if they will immediately start forging a new path.
