Ok, this is as far as I got with the Buddhism lemmicon; I'll try to work more on him later.

I'd like it if his eyes were closed and he had droopy earlobes . . .

Oh boy, getting old here, let's see if I can remember.

I think in part it was because they seemed unable to fix the Linux desktop client after months and months and months, and repeated support requests. Also, I had been a user of theirs for some time when they changed how their plans worked, and moved a feature I relied heavily upon (I think it was email templates—something you might never need!) to a much more expensive plan. Felt like I was being charged more for being a longtime user. I don't know if they have cloud storage now, but at the time they didn't, and Proton had that, along of course with mail and calendar—all of that for less than what Tuta was offering which was mail, calendar, and plenty of other features that were continuously promised but never released. So really just a bunch of little things that were important to me, but which other users might never miss.

I agree! I don't use Proton's VPN or their password manager for that reason. The equivalents I had in place already were fine and I didn't feel the need to switch over everything, just some things.

That reminds me, I think I remember reading on the FreeTube page that they recommended using a VPN with it (this was before the current issues with Mullvad); anyone know why? Are FreeTube users in any danger of being hunted down by Sundar Pichai & co.?

Yeah, same here! I have to turn off Mullvad when watching FreeTube which is definitely annoying.

Possibly Odoo . . . ?

Going to go through the troubleshooting guide on iFixit on the remote chance that I can salvage this thing...

Thanks to @sloppy_diffuser@sh.itjust.works and @limerod@reddthat.com. The GrapheneOS page recommends getting at least a "7," but I can probably sell some more plasma and the rest of my Precious Moments™ figurines to get a more expensive model. The 5a5g did indeed have a headphone jack, but I guess anything newer than that doesn't have one. Which means, I guess, earbuds/bluetooth (what Mrs. zdhzm2pgp calls "ear cigarettes")? I've never had these for anything; how well do they work? I was sort of under the impression that the sound quality was not great, but that was also a long time ago.

Was doing multiple things at the time, so not sure about this—I think I restarted it but then it wouldn't start up again. Holding down the power button didn't help, nor did holding down the power button along with either the up or down volume for a few seconds. Plugging it in, it does make the "started charging" noise or whatever.

Would be much obliged for any suggestions on how to get this working again!

UPDATE: Well, and it just rang! Maybe the screen died . . . ?

UPDATE UPDATE: Well new friends, it looks like I'm now officially in the market for a new phone. Since I like GrapheneOS, I guess I need to buy another Pixel which hopefully won't crap out on me after 3 years like this one has just apparently done. But which Pixel should I get? As long as it's comparable in functionality to the 5a5g . . .
