i got absolutely bombed one night before work, missed my alarm and woke to a voicemail from my boss telling me i was "terminated". it was only 2 hours into my shift.

i didn't care at all to be honest because i wasn't planning on being a prep cook for the rest of my life anyway

Fair point. I had an employer who would write people up for being 1 minute late at one point. I was only considering the job abandonment aspect, not the other parts.
