Much like Meta has decided to join the fediverse, Reddit could also decide to setup it's own instance(s) and federate with the existing Lemmy instances.

What is your opinion about that? Should your instance block a Reddit instance? Or would you welcome it?

Reddit or Meta/Faecesbook, I think that the conclusion is the same - it's a hostile entity seeking control over this side of the Fediverse, and it should be isolated before it's able to cause damage. If done early enough, we can minimise the annoyance for users and maximise the effectiveness of the pre-emptive defed.

Exactly this, if we can stop them in their Embrace phase before they can get to Extend and Extinguish, we should be fine. I think defederating from Meta and Reddit should be any Fedi instances first priority. Though I'm sure some will think it's a great idea as it'll bring more users and content, but it's only a good idea at first while these companies need the Fediverse, as soon as they don't need us they'll fuck it all over like Google did with XMPP
