I loves the show but never got around to watching the movies. Didn't even know there was more than one.
Gurren Lagann? There's only two movies. The first one is a retelling of the first half of the anime, with a few differences towards the end, and the second one is a different retelling of the second half. If I had to describe it, I would say its as if they simply turned it up to 11.
I absolutely love it and recommend anyone that has seen the anime to watch it.
