Right? It's easy to bloviate about "free, ~~democratic~~ fair elections" when you're the world's superpower. When you live NEXT to the world's superpower, there's no such thing.
Fantastically well said. Cuba's a very democratic country, moreso than the US, so when people accuse it of not being so that can only mean they wish to remove the safeguards preventing US recolonization.
We said free and fair which is not the same as free and democratic.

Canada and Mexico both live next to the USA and both have freer and more fair elections than the USA so Im not sure your claim even makes sense on the surface.
According to another poster Cuba has non-Marxist candidates who can run. IF Cubans have the ability to completely cast aside the government, regardless of ideology, then they have free elections. If they cannot then they don’t have free elections.

Trump is literally actively "joking" about annexing Canada this week, and they've been exporting MAGA brain rot to Canada for years.
Trump also threatened to unilaterally invade/bomb Mexico to attack cartels.
How is that not directly interfering with "free and fair elections"
Because free and fair elections are determined internally as they always have? Whether elections are free and fair is determined by the state.
America cannot make Cuban elections less free or fair and you would have to fundamentally not understand what "free and fair" elections are to assert otherwise. If Cuban elections are neither free nor fair the culprit would be the Cuban government/Cuban Communist Party.
Cuba seems to only prmit the Cuban Communist Party to exist as a party. Robbing the citizenry the choice of what political path to follow is not the actions of free elections but is oppressive. Why would someone back the oppression of the will of the people?
Correct, which is why westerners should shut the fuck up and stop giving their uneducated opinions about whether other countries elections are "free and fair" (ie. Result in the outcome America wants.)
