It's not really that distinct, no. Not unless you're transmed and believe pre and post op trans people need to divided from each other.

Youre free to use whatever terms you'd like to use for yourself, but transsexual was how people referred to all transgender people until the term transgender took off in the late 90s.

go on bluesky and nearly the entire trans community uses the word transsexual. not in a transmed way (the community, at least my bubble, was very anti-transmed), but rather a "much of my trans identity comes from body dysphoria" way. when I was experimenting with bsky it was definitely a culture shock lol. I ultimately ditched bsky for separate reasons though
