also when you inevitably lose someone important to the project (be it obligations or drama), you have replacements ready and dont have the whole project fall over because one person was too important

This is a lesson loads of actual businesses need to learn. Put all your proverbial eggs into one overworked, underpaid basket, and when they inevitably get burnt out or get a better offer and leave, you're up shit creek without the knowledge that kept everything ticking over.
