The story at that link is about 1 month old, but someone posted about this mural on Reddit yesterday.

It’s definitely sad and unfortunate that someone had to die, but I heard they were using unethical means to exploit vulnerable people and cause the deaths of many others.

If the police weren’t going to do anything about the CEO, then sadly, it’s ultimately necessary for a vigilante to step up.

It’s why you need a fair legal system.

It’s why you need a fair legal system.

This.

If the police weren’t going to do anything about the CEO, then sadly, it’s ultimately necessary for a vigilante to step up.

But not this.

If someone (a CEO, a powerful business man, a politician, whatever) is doing something so egregiously wrong then club together to raise awareness, take legal action, shame them in the press, set up you own alternatives. Going straight to murder is not the answer.

Yet it scares me that so many people think it is 😢😬.

Pretty sure that everyone over in the US has already tried and failed this. If not, then you’re 100% correct.

[-] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 2 points 2 months ago

They might have tried it in different ways, and it might be really difficult I don't deny that. But the alternative of murder seems a little overkill, no?

[-] Retropunk64@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

No, what they're doing to millions of Americans is overkill.

[-] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 2 points 2 months ago

I agree the US health care system is pretty fucked up and I feel bad for people in the US. But are you saying that killing is the answer?

[-] Retropunk64@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

When doing things the right way repeatedly for decades gets you nowhere, you reach a point where you need to stand up to your oppressors.

[-] Retropunk64@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

If you think we as a society went straight to murder, you need to get your head out of your ass.

[-] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 0 points 2 months ago

And yet we see a murderer venerated 🤷.

[-] Retropunk64@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Because we've been fighting this battle the right way for DECADES. Enough is enough. Luigi did nothing wrong.

[-] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 0 points 2 months ago

What have you tried? What have you personally tried?

For example, have you got together in your locality and created a shared insurance scheme for you and your neighbours? Basically adopt a version of French / German healthcare insurance on a local level? Have you tried that?

[-] Retropunk64@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

Stop simping for corporate leeches. If the people have collectively been fighting the system within the legal framework for DECADES yet things continuously get worse, its not the people that's the problem. The systems rotten to the core and needs to be cut out at the root.

Stop simping for corporate leeches.

I'm not defended your health care system. Read my other replies. Your health care sucks balls and we feel really bad for you. I'm saying that murdering people isn't good neither is encouraging it. Big difference 👍.

If you don't like your unfortunate situation then do something constructive and positive about it. Heck, educate yourself well enough to move if you feel so strongly about it. Imagine if people took the same attitude to your education system that they happen to be aggrieved with. Sooner or later the US will be overwhelmed with mass school killings because some jackass "hated the school system that failed him".

[-] Retropunk64@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

"Just move." Lmao, fuck off. I'm not leaving my home because these assholes decided they were better than me. Standing up to your oppressors is constructive, but I can see how it may not look like that when you're used to the taste of leather. Also, comparing the education system to the healthcare system is a false equivalence. The education system doesn't routinely let thousands and thousands of people die when they could easily do something about it but are too greedy to.

[-] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 0 points 2 months ago

No my friend. I'm not equating the health and education systems literally. Obviously. I'm taking your principle of "the system is bad, much oppressors, where's my rifle?" and applying it elsewhere to show how bad your approach is.

Standing up to your oppressors is constructive

Mate, you don't live in Gaza 🤣. Why are your solutions so violent and extreme? Enjoy your downward spiral.

[-] Retropunk64@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

So unless they're bombing us its not oppression? Employing AI specifically to look for reasons to deny peoples insurance claims, leading to countless people dying, isn't oppression? Got it. Keep deepthroating that boot dude.

"The system is bad, where's my rifle" isn't the same as "the system is killing us, where's my rifle". But you come from a castrated country, so its easy to see why you don't get it.

You clearly don't give a shit about Americans. You're no friend, so why don't you shut the fuck up and mind your own business? Lmk when you actually want to be an ally to the people and not the corporate overlords.

[-] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 0 points 2 months ago

When you stop solving your problems with violence. It's a pretty simple concept. And yet you are confused 🤔.

[-] Retropunk64@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

Just as you seem to be confused about how to shut the fuck up and mind your own business.

[-] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 1 points 2 months ago

OK buddy, don't Luigi me 🤣.

[-] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network -1 points 2 months ago

No one went "straight to murder". There have been decades of struggle.

You're also describing the "boxes of liberty" thing. "To be used in order: soap box, ballot box, jury box, ammo box".

[-] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 1 points 2 months ago

No one went "straight to murder"

This Luigi chap did...
