Seriously that PR campaign fucked him up. Who came up with that?

Putin is a soft hearted liberal bureaucrat who just wanted to do business with Europe and had been kicking the Ukraine problem down the road for years. There are hardliners in Russia taking far more extreme positions than Putin’s when it comes to confronting the West.
