Personally I see Rally as an addition to the package. Without, normal non-hardcore-sim racing games lack in variety for me. I love dirt racing, but if the game Im loading up is only that, it loses the flair/appeal of a slick racing game
The modern standard of course being Forza "unskippable-ingame-ad" Horizon.
The problem is that games like Forza Horizon and The Crew tend to not really have rally, they have "racing on dirt." A key feature of most rallying is cars are leaving with determined gaps so your performance is based only around your driving ability on the course. Forza Horizon still has all the drivers start together so blocking and etc... comes into play.
