Documenting hate speech, conspiracy theories, apologia/revisionism, and general tankie behaviour across the fediverse. Memes are welcome!
What is a Tankie?
Alternatively, a detailed blog post about Tankies.
(caution of biased source)
Basic Rules:
Sh.itjust.works Instance rules apply! If you are from other instances, please be mindful of the rules. — Basically, don't be a dick.
Hate-Speech — You should be familiar with this one already; practically all instances have the same rules on hate speech.
Apologia — (Using the Modern terminology for Apologia) No Defending, Denying, Justifying, Bolstering, or Differentiating authoritarian acts or endeavours, whether be a Pro-CCP viewpoint, Stalinism, Islamic Terrorism or any variation of Tankie Ideology.
Revisionism — No downplaying or denying atrocities past and present. Calling Tankies shills, foreign/federal agents, or bots also falls under this rule. Extremists exist. They are real. Do not call them shills or fake users as it handwaves their extremism.
Tankies can explain their views but may be criticised or attacked for them. Any slight infraction on the rules above will immediately earn a warning and possibly a ban.
Off-topic Discussion — Do not discuss unrelated topics to the point of derailing the thread. Stay focused on the direct content of the post as opposed to arguing.
You'll be warned if you're violating the instance and community rules. Continuing poor behaviour after being warned will result in a ban or removal of your comments. Bans typically only last 24 hours, but each subsequent infraction will double the amount. Depending on the content, the ban time may be increased. You may request an unban at any time.
i think your view is valid buy i'd like your opinions on a few things.
Personally, i'm a fan of social programs as opposed to community ownership. Community ownership might work for small things little libraries, but if you scale it too far out, you'll simply be robbed by the very people you're trying to provide for. And you either have to hitler those people or cult them and i'm sure neither is appealing.
the reason why i'm fan of social programs is if you're out of a job + sick. In the US, you'd just fucking die physically or finantially. But in another other developed country, you'd be taken care of, more or less. This can be expanded to a bunch of other things. You have a child? Let's give you cupons (specifically) for childcare products. Your boiler sucks ass in efficiency? Let's make a gov pay towards a new one. Too much energy usage? Incentivise using energy off peak instead.
i love these because they're not forced on people but make a difference for people that do need it. I think these are more socialist than communist ideas, please correct me if i'm wrong.
~also sorry for typos, going through withdrawal.~
Yes of course social programs to help those in need are good, and we should have more of them everywhere. Much of Europe has this all figured out and in place already without resorting to communist extremes.
What we have currently in the USA are programs for food assistance for the needy, medical care through programs like Medicaid (in danger) and state/county operated Health Dept clinics where the poor can get medical care for free or income-based costs. So we are not without help entirely but there is a lot of room for improvement.
